They have reduced customer service - for our safety, they say
This was a nice hotel in a great location. Rooms were clean, and the corner king suite has a nice layout, 2 balconies and a huge bathroom. The restaurant and bar were closed and we understood due to covid. Parking is an outrageous $46 per night. They are taking covid seriously, as staff doesn't seem to want to be around you. We asked for a bottle of water and was told they couldn't provide one so as to limit contact. But, there is a CVS up the street for those needs. Seriously? They are not servicing rooms every day, which is understandable, but simple things on a long stay like fresh towels and toilet paper were problematic. I think the service this visit is probably a reflection of the service generally, and for a luxury hotel is lacking.
Right on Riverwalk
Arrived San Antonio at 3:00pm and used UBER for transportation from the airport to the hotel. Check in was quick/easy and receptionist was behind a plastic screen. Internet (normally $14.95/day) was complimentary. Very few tourists but mask was required in the hotel. Room was 833 and was clean and very quiet. Coffee maker in the room. Front door had adhesive sticker saying it had been cleaned and sanitized. TV remote was even in a plastic bag. There was a refrigerator in the room. Had a small narrow desk/vanity area along with an additional chair for seating. Linens were all white and bed was very comfortable.
I requested a City View and they have a parking lot view. I’ve stayed here several times but the customer service this time was terrible. Then when I was in my room, the phone on the room did not work. I requested for another room but told me that it was not possible. I even said I’ll pay for the difference on a riverwalk view but said no. I came with my family to experience a City View of San Antonio but no. I wish they could’ve provided us a better service.
Clean and Good Location
This location is my favorite on the Riverwalk. It's on the quiet end with a short walk along the river to all the shops and restaurants. I stayed here a year ago and knew the quality I would get in terms of safety and cleanliness. Rooms are clean, and their protocols are solid. You must make a reservation for the pool since they are keeping numbers low for safety. I give it 3 stars because although it was clean and safe, there's little to no "hospitality." Covid is still around, I understand, but it seems like hotels are providing the bare bones and not taking care of the basics or leaving out things that are not Covid related. Broken phone in the room, only 1 roll of toilet paper, and closed restaurant with no option for pickup or room service. The restaurant part is understandable due to the situation, but not having access to food in a Westin is strange to me. I am a Rewards member, but I didn't receive any of the typical rewards benefits. Maybe Covid prevents them from giving room upgrades and 2 complimentary water bottles?? We reserved a recently renovated 2 doubles room with a riverview balcony. Rooms are small, especially beds. It was too cramped for a family of 4. Overall, not a bad stay, but it left me shopping elsewhere for my next stay.
Highly recommend you stay here. From the minute me and my family walked in we were treated exceptionally! The valet parking was super quick and the workers worked very fast and diligently. What I really enjoyed about my stay at this hotel was having access to the river walk and overall the hotel is surrounded by nice scenery. On our last day we went out and came past our check out time and our rooms were locked but the front desk was very kind and opened our rooms so that we could get our belongings. Overall I really enjoyed my visit here and encourage others to visit.
