Is this the worst hotel in America?
Date of stay: 29-30 March. I have paid over $400 a night for the exec suite. I had to move rooms because the mattress was so worn out any pressure caused it to collapse. The hotel elevator failed to work on day 2. I then ordered bottled water to my room - the hotel told me they have run out of water!!! This is so bad it’s almost a farce.
Pulled up to the hotel and looked gorgeous. Lobby was large and appealing to the eye. When we arrived they let us check in early, but informed us that the rooftop pool was closed due to construction which was the main reason we chose this hotel. We went into our room took a first glance and looked at each other and said “This is not worth what we paid.” Although we felt it wasn’t worth the price, the beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean for the most part, and it was pretty much within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go in Downtown Austin.
Don't trust them. They are liars.
I tried to stay here during the Snow/Ice Storm last week. I booked the reservation thru the omni website and recieved a confirmation. The day I was suppose to check in I recieved an email from Omni stating the "Property has no power" and they would be cancelling my reservation. This was odd as most buildings in the downtown area didn't lose power. So I borrowed a car to investigate. When I arrived onsite I asked the valet guy and he said they never lost power so I went inside and the staff at the front desk said the same. When I asked about my room they said they had a water pipe break but nobody was evaculated and everyone was doing fine. Then one of the people behind the desk said that the real problem was that people were not leaving and checking out which is why my room was probably cancelled. This is not acceptable as this decision they made caused me to be homeless. The fact that they completely lied to me during an emergency shows the class of people that this company respresents. I ended up having to sleep at a hostel as eveything else was booked. Don't trust this company to honor your reservation as they will cancel it if it benefits them. This company is full of liars. They deserve a zero star.
FANTASTIC-OUTSTANDING-SUPERIOR Service during the ICE STORM February 2021!!
I stayed at Omni Austin Feb 2021 (THE ICE-SNOW STORM) during my planned wedding. I felt so compelled to do more than a review. I wrote a letter to the President of the Omni Hotel & Resorts. I am in absolute amazement with the Dedication, Passion, Etiquette, Kindness, Organization and Commitment of the staff at Omni-Downtown Austin. GOD I love you all and I appreciate YOU so much. See my letter: “I know that you are going through a difficult time but the best source of information that I have regarding your organization is that YOU GUYS are RESILANT. As you are aware the climate changed in Texas and the normal was no longer that but instead an increase concern for safety. I have visited Omni Austin in October 2020 for my best friends wedding ceremony. I chose to be married in Austin which led to my working with Laura Phillipp, Director of Catering and Conventions Services and her outstanding team members. On my wedding day on Valentine’s Day 2021 I was told that the venue Elope in Austin no longer will be hosting myself and my wedding guests of 25 folks who came to share in this special occasion. The representative from Elope in Austin actually “TEXT” me as I sat during my hair and make up application. I then received a call earlier that day from Austin Private Car Company cancelling our private sprinter vehicle but offered to send SUV’s and charge me $100 more an hour over and above the already price. During this time I could only think of calling my friends and most importantly, Laura Phillipp. She was in route to the Omni well before her actual start time due to the weather forecast. I simply asked if she could help me with a room so that I can use and set up chairs for my guests just to have a ceremony they all come (Far as NYC, DC, DE, PA, NJ, FL, NC, GA, MO) to witness my union with my now husband. Without any questions, Laura called into action a S.W.A.T (Sweet, Wonderful, Amazing, Team) of dynamic professionals to orchestrate such an impromptu wedding for myself and our guests. Not only did she immediately say, “yes let me do what you need me to do” to make this work, she herself used her physical body to move, assist and set up the room incl that of some décor to enhance the experience. She did not make me stress over the final details and strategized on how best to reduce my stress but CREATE AN AMAZING AND UNFORGETABLE experience that I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET. I know Laura is the Director of Catering and Convention Services, but I have been working with her for the past several months as I had planned to have all my guests stay at your fine establishment and also reception was hosted by your fine people. Laura has a natural inst inct for being a problem solver, a solutions driven person with great global strategy in mind. She is a “fixer” but that does not mean she lacks in her ability to be proactive but if something should appear unaligned she is able to resolve the problem. She is a DYNAMIC leader with a sweet, kind and tender heart. She leads with PASSION, GRACE, PATIENCE, COMMON SENSE, SENSITIVTY and INTELLIGENCE. Her ability to pull off a wedding within a 1hour time frame is beyond me and I am very organized, focused and solutions driven. The reality is that she is leading by example for others to follow and she deserves more than a pat on the back or a title change, I wish I could give her an extremely generous gift. In addition, I want to recognize that she worked with her staff who did emulate the EXACT SAME performance and professional application of quality standards. They too deserve accommodations. I know that I med Courtney, Nathan, Jaylen, Mark, John and so many more that I did not meet but I know made OUR stay a time to never forget. The heart will never forget the love bestowed upon us. I really wanted you ALL TO KNOW that you have STELLAR professionals with a heart of gold at Omni Downtown Austin. I send prayers as we all recover from the challenges winter brought. WE ARE RESILIENT & NEVER GIVE UP!”
My Daughters Birthday was Jan 31st and stayed in this hotel sat and sun. I was having something sent there for her and had questions so I called. I wish I would have gotten the gentleman's name because he was so kind and so helpful and had the best attitude and as I hung up I was so confident everything was going to be great. My daughter said the room was amazing and everyone made her feel like she was a celebrity because they knew her name and everyone was so nice. It made her 30th birthday very rememerberable and in a good way as she was struggling about turning 30. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and anyone going to austin.
