Great property for families, couples
We stayed Wed-Fri April 7-9, 2021. While the building 'bones' are on the older side, the property has been updated/maintained beautifully! The restaurants and pool bar are very good, would certainly stay here again.
Excellent resort for first family trip
Great experience here with my family on our first trip. Beach entrance is on the property and it’s a quick walk. All the food onsite is very good. Hotel is clean and staff is friendly. Will definitely come back for another weekend
Unlike previous vacations, this year vacation was totally focused around the hotel. All I can say I’m satisfied with my experience at the Omni Resort Hilton Head. But I just wish there was more to do. Here are my observations: Pools were a lot smaller than what’s shown on the pictures online. There were a lot people bathing in the sun, not enough chairs to sit by the pool and watch your kids. Water tasted phony. Even the ice cubes made the soda taste weird. I went to the Breeze restaurant. It took 40 minutes to get our food served. We have to ask for napkins and plastic silverware. The drinks at the Breeze were phenomenal. We tried the Frozen Piña Colada, Island Sunrise and the Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri. The towel service by the pool is excellent. They provided clean towels at no additional cost. The service at the Breeze restaurant improved exponentially the second day of our stay. For some reason the pool was less crowded. We were able to order food from our seats next to the pool. The server was very attentive. They have a decent gym that is open 24 hours a day. It was surprisingly empty most of time. Which is good. They should update their playlist. Maybe add a little Bob Marley and some Caribbean music. Overall our experience was good. I was expecting a little more from this resort. It was a little too crowded for my taste and a little pricey for the quality of service.
COVID staffing issues but still.......
Extremely understaffed. No food/beverage service at the adult pool and a very long wait at the only open pool bar for food orders. Breakfast in the restaurant took forever and food was served cold. The pool ran out of towels and gave out bathmats. No issues with the room except that the "resort view" was a parking lot view. This should have been clearer at the time or booking. Overall, this was not a great experience for the price.
Overpriced. Nice Amenities. Staffing Issues.
This was our first visit to Hilton Head and the Omni and our first vacation out of state since COVID-19 started. Our check-in was quick and easy. We had a nice room on the second floor that accommodated our party of five very comfortably. It was a little loud as it was above the hotel gym and you could hear weights being placed on the racks or dropped. It was also located next to the outdoor staircase. Surprisingly that did not create any noise issues and was very convenient for us. The hotel does allow dogs - we did not experience any issues of noise or otherwise due to this. The beds were comfortable and the kitchenette was a fantastic amenity. Our balcony overlooked the courtyard which was nice for reading and relaxing. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The pools are heated and have zero-entry features at the resort pool. They also have a quiet adult pool (which we did not visit). We enjoyed our time at the pool. The hotel has not made an attempt to social-distance seating at the pool area. Pool towels are provided (or bath mats - as we were provided one morning because the laundry had not been done). Beach access is easy and convenient. The snack shack at the beach access is great and has snow cones, ice cream, and all of the beach essentials you will need, if you don't bring your own. There is also a small playground nearby the snack shake. You can also rent bicycles, which we did, and it was a great way to see the Palmetto Dunes area. We enjoyed the food from the Buoy Bar and XO Sports Bar. We did take-out for these. Their HH Prime Steakhouse is also open for a buffet breakfast and dinner. We were not comfortable eating there as a buffet and also because the staff were not masked or wearing gloves as they prepared for morning service each day. The fire pits were nice for evening gatherings and s'mores. The hotel had staffing issues (as mentioned in my Palmetto Market review). In addition, staff arrived late for snack shack - the bicycle rental opes at 9, but no one arrived. Another staff member helped us, but he ended up being there all day as the other staff scheduled for their shifts didn't show up. We heard similar stories from other guests about staff shortages and issues. The hotel is also in need of maintenance on the exterior. Much of the wood around the balconies is rotted or has come loose from the side of the building. They were repairing the wood decking while we were there. We paid five-star prices for a 3-star experience.
