Amazing for Georgia Aquarium
Amazing hotel with wonderful staff! When I booked, I wanted to be close to the Georgia Aquarium, without realizing this Marriott had the tallest atrium in the world, before the Burj Dubai was finished. They gave me my 4pm late checkout without question. That is my favorite benefit of being Platinum elite. We had an awesome, restful time here. I had the honor of talking with Vincent, the manager. He made sure everything was perfect.
In all of my years of traveling, I have NEVER had an experience like the one at this hotel. First, the people here must have forgotten about the pandemic. Too many people waking in public areas unmasked. It took 45 minutes to even pull in to the circle drive. The check-in line was all the way to the the door at 9pm. My room wasn’t cleaned or sanitized because it was foundation marks all down the bathroom wall. Valet was a mess as well. After being there for nearly an hour, we requested a refund and found a different place to stay.
Visited ATL between Christmas and NYE and got a super cheap rate thru Hotwire for this hotel. I used to live in ATL and was familiar with this enormous hotel. Check in was easy enough and they honored my request for a room with a bathtub. I was on the 25th floor and had a great view of midtown. The room itself was mediocre for a Marriott. The bed was firm and not especially comfortable and the linens were sparse. The bathroom was small but average. The common areas of the hotel were mostly disappointing. It looked as if a food cart had leaked from the elevator to the the hallway on my floor with a running stain than ran the length of the corridor to my room. Other carpets looked worn and desperately needed to be steamed, or replaced. Concrete walls were dusty/dirty. I’ve had great luck with full service Marriotts in the past and this one just appeared to need a deep clean. Most services in the hotel were closed due to Covid, which is understandable. On the day of my departure I called the number given to me by the valet when checking in, and requested my car to be brought around. I waited around 20 minutes before going down to the valet area (the hotel was not very busy). I arrived to find no car and a long line to ‘request’ that your car be brought up. What was the purpose of calling?? The girl at the valet desk couldn’t answer this question. I stood in a slow moving line to request my car, even though I had called down earlier. And they charge you $49/night for this service. Ridiculous. As many others have noted, I smelled marijuana more than once while inside the hotel. Staff interactions were ok and the valet and front desk people were friendly. I rarely leave poor reviews, and the hotel wasn’t horrible, just not up to the standards of a typical Marriott. I might return, but only if the price was right. I would never pay standard rate for this hotel, Covid or not.
Canceled before I got there
I made reservations to meet my daughter at the Marquette. I called to make a few inquiries before staying there this weekend. Both people I spoke with had a lot of unprofessional attitude in there voices. When I asked the concierge and asked question about the restaurants he actually answered. Uhuhhhh.. I felt like he thought he was doing me a favor just by answering. I immediately got online and started reading recent reviews. Words like dirty and attitude showing up in way too many real reviews. So many phony looking 5 star reviews. I am a long time Marriott patron but rather than suffer buyers regret I am cancelling and staying elsewhere. Too bad the price was nice.
Atlanta Marriott Marquis
Atlanta Marriott Marquis on Peachtree Center Avenue in Atlanta is a great hotel that offers everything that you need in a hotel and more. The location is in the middle of everything and has real good views of the city. I like the entire atmosphere and design of the hotel which feels like you are in a giant spaceship. The staff here works hard to make sure that everything is right and that you have the best stay. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.
