When you book the Lake Yellowstone hotel, you are paying for nostalgia and location. It is a beautiful hotel! The rooms are small, but elegant. There is no air conditioning, and the windows are blocked so that they can only be raised a few inches. No WiFi. No cell service, but there is a phone booth! No refrigerator. No microwave. Breakfast is not included, but there is a buffet. The dining room was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet style. I enjoyed the meals that we had while there. (We spent three nights.) But.... it is handily located near Hayden Valley and the southern half of Yellowstone. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful. While I probably would not stay at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel in the future, I am glad that I stayed there once.
Vacation in Yellowstone
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in a cottage at Lake Yellowstone. The staff was so nice and helpful. We enjoyed some reading time in the sun room after getting back from trips throughout the park. The breakfast buffet was a great start to our days. The cottage was very nice and bed was comfortable. We heard elk bugling the first night of our stay. We saw elk, a mother grizzly and her cub, a black bear, a wolf and lots of bison during our trips. The folks we talked to at other cottages were very friendly. The color of the leaves on the trees was beautiful. There is so much to see and give thanks to the Lord for his creation!
Lake Yellowstone Cabin Stay
We stayed in one of the yellow cabins for 3 nights last week (third week of September). The cabin was a duplex cabin, I would rather have had a single, didn't realize that was an option when making the reservation. The cabins are sparsely furnished with 2 double beds, one night stand & lamp between, a desk and 2 wooden chairs & a vanity sink, all in the one big room. The toilet and shower are in a separate room. We used the chairs to place our luggage on and sat on the beds to eat. We brought our own food, sandwich fixings, chips, cereal, milk etc., there is no refrigerator, you need to bring your cooler.
Beautiful Historic Hotel
Beautiful Historic Hotel surrounded by nature. This quaint hotel is a great location to explore all of what Yellowstone has to offer. Unfortunately, the restaurant is buffet only since the pandemic. The food was subpar on all levels. I would have eaten from the deli every night if I had discovered it sooner.
Expensive but very nice
We stayed here for our visit to Yellowstone and were pleased with the facilities, though they do not rise up to the price charged. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and appeared well maintained. Air conditioning was lacking, but we found even in august that we need jackets much of the day. Note that there is no usable internet on this site if you travel with kids. The on-site restaurant required reservations due to trying to deal with covid-19 restrictions, but they had to be made each day, not in advance. Food was good, but not much better than that. All prices seemed to be
