I stay at the Warwick whenever I come to New York, for business or pleasure. Everything, from the great location, to the ample size of the rooms, to the helpful and charming and consistent staff, makes this landmark hotel a true home-away-from-home, which I wholeheartedly appreciate. See you next time!
My husband booked room for my 40th birthday, almost $500 for an upgraded room with a view. Walking in with leaky ceiling over bed and blood stain on the bathroom door. Walked right out, given another room worse than the first one on lower level and no views which we paid for initially. Was told no other room was available. Manager would not give us a refund and neither did hotels.com because it was a non refundable room. Went to another hotel that same night and lost $500 to this hotel. Most disgusting hotel I’ve ever been in and I’ve been to many in NYC.
The hotel was so accommodating! House keeping did a fantastic job and my overall experience was fabulous We also had room service that was very prompt and upon arrival had a small lunch in the lounge the only negative I have is the only Red wine was Columbia Crest and they need a better selection
A hotel living on its memories
We stayed here in December over the Christmas period in a suite and wasn't impressed with what we got on the price we paid. The suite was for 4 people (2 double beds) we had 1 bathrobe! 2 coffee cups, 2 glasses, no bottled water! this was a must as the water from the taps had a terrible taste. The coffee machine had nowhere to plug into so we had to make hot drinks on the floor next to the nearest plug socket. We had no breakfast tea, only green/peach flavoured tea, we asked at reception, and was rudely told they don't have any. Next day we saw maintenance man, and he said they had some and promptly left 4 sachets, but these were never replenished. The AC/heating units were noisy and had to be switched off at night. The units along with the windows let in cold air. The running joke was that they were made of swiss cheese. The so-called double glazing was non-existent and didn't do anything to stop the very early (6 am) construction work opposite and the pneumatic drill wars at 12:40 am, yes 40 minutes past midnight! When trying to request a late checkout, we were told to ask on the morning of check out, we could not do it the night before, the reception staff were not helpful, the maids and maintenance folks were very helpful and pleasant. The doorman was pleasant but beyond him, you are not felt welcome. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. It lives off its historical image and convenient location.
I wanted so much to really like this hotel, but they don't make it easy!
There is nothing to be said about the location, and the bellmen... who are helpful and very courteous, But I found the reception staff unfriendly (except when we arrived at midnight on Monday the 30th)... it seems they are all too busy to smile or go the extra yard! The bar at Randolf's makes a good martini and the food there is not bad for bar food. Our room was big enough, however, the closet was tiny (and in the winter just not enough space to hang clothes for two, and the bathroom is just not up to par: there is no hand shower, so to turn on the shower, you get totally soaked (if you don't want to wet your hair, even though you wear a shower cap, it is still difficult to adjust the heat of the water!) It also smelled of mold! The bed was comfortable. The hotel is showing its age, and somehow, it is not being properly updated and taken care of. It is a shame as it is in a great location.
