Best in Downtown!
I had such an amazing experience at the Dream. From beginning to end, the entire staff was welcoming and exceptionally accommodating. Absolutely astounding service from the front desk, security, bellman, upstairs restaurant, and pool. Neat common spaces and I can tell the rooms had been cleaned with extra care. The design of the rooms and lobby is so unique and modern. It's gorgeous. The pool and upstairs dining was heaven! This is a great sanctuary in the heart of Downtown. Easily accessible to the subway and restaurants nearby. And I love how well they had put in procedures for social distancing, etc. Would definitely recommend!!
I made reservations to stay in a Platinum Suite at this hotel. This was one of the most horrible suites I've ever stayed in anywhere. I felt as though there was absolutely no quality check for this suite. In my opinion this room should have never been sold. 1. No glasses or Box tissues in the room (basic requirements) 2. One of 2 balcony doors broken (I was unable to utilize one of to balconies I paid for) 3. Worn out and shabby furniture (broken and ripped couch) 4. Nothing in the mini bar (empty fridge, once again basic necessity) On top of all this I had to pay a $99.00 pet security, and obviously they were not using this for up keep or repairs. The Hotel staff was friendly but, I was a little disappointed in the fact that even though I was staying at the hotel, I still had to pay $125.00 to rent a pool chair and still pay for food and drinks at the pool. There was also a $100 "minimum spend" at the rooftop bar. I paid for a "suite experience" but received less than mediocracy, I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone without warning.
Great views and good food
This is specifically about Beach at Dream Downtown Beach is an oasis during these times. It is outdoors, has a great view and a pool! What could be better than that? On top of it all, it has good food and a very helpful and friendly staff. It has great scenery for taking pictures and you can never go wrong with these menu items...the burrito bowl, the tacos, the steak and the guac and chips. All these items were really good and surprisingly huge portions. I recommend getting a reservation and ask for JD the manager if you ever need anything...he's super helpful and a great host.
Not ideal for the work trip
Overall it was nice and hipster hotel. However on 5th floor room, I couldn’t get any sleep. The music beat from 6th rooftop club literally bounce the room under. I had great time enjoying modern design of the room and cute little cafe for the breakfast but not for the rest.
Recent Dream Downtown Stay (Feb-March)
I recently stayed at the Dream Downtown (Meatpacking District), and could not have been happier. First, the staff easily accommodated a last-minute booking, and also provided a late checkout (that I requested) and were able to upgrade the initial room. Friendly does not even begin to describe the front desk and concierge staff. The exterior and interior are top-notch, and the room was impeccable. I should note that the balcony view is REALLY cool. Modern room with newer technology, including bathroom speakers, which is a very nice touch. You really get your money's worth at the Dream Downtown, without question. The bar area is clean, with a wonderful clientele. Location - cannot be beat. The heart of New York's most popular area and across the street from the Starbucks Reserve (if you have not been - GO!). If you're looking to impress or meet someone - stay at this hotel; don't waste your time trying to compare with others in the area. Special thanks and recognition to Lauren at the front desk - she is truly wonderful and a nice introduction to your entrance to the Dream :).
