10 day stay for family
My husband, children, and I decided to take a much needed vacation. Upon arrival I waited in line to check in. This took a little bit with confusion from a new employee but was quickly fixed. We did a standard room and it was plenty big for us. We weren’t there for the room so we didn’t need a big one. The pools and lazy river were all open but it was cold outside. The kids enjoyed it still. The hideaway bar was good but get a floater added to your drink if you want any alcohol in it. The diner was average but the employees are very nice. It’s expensive so make sure you want what you’re getting or just get fries. The delivery from park to resort is very useful for long vacations. Our fridge wasn’t working they immediately replaced it. They did a half way cleaning (middle of our stay they cleaned the room they don’t do daily which we didn’t mind) the gift shop had plenty options. Starbucks has the regular menu and prices husband used it daily but a few times they would forget he asked no whip cream. Didn’t complain though. The price wasn’t bad plus five day park hopper was nice. Just wish it had been warmer lol. We did Disney two days as well and it was easy to catch an Uber to and from. You can get food etc delivered just meet to pick it up outside the front lobby door. If you get a standard room you don’t have a microwave but there are some down by the soda machines. We did the refillable mugs but because it’s so far away from the room it wasn’t worth it. Also the mug has a chip so it’s scanned for the drink to fill and has time constraints. Sometimes you’d go to fill it and get all the foam and no drink and had to wait to fill it again. Breakfast is good but the bacon sucks, always burnt and too crunchy. The steak is good at lunch/dinner they give you a ton of fries if you order just fries. The nachos aren’t very good. Bring marshmallows if you want to roast them or make s’mores- 4 sticks in a bag are $2 but s’more kits are expensive. The fire pits are nice at night so long as you don’t get stuck with another family who can’t control their kids or their language. Staff is really nice no matter where you are in the resort.
The esthetics of the resort are second to none. Aside from the TVs in the room, I could have been in a hotel circa 1960 and not known any different. Everything was clean, staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Transportation to and from the theme parks made our stay so much more convenient.
Great hotel had a wonderful night stay
We stayed here for a quick night stay in October. Was really surprised how nice this place was. Really cute and clean. The hotel was easy to get to and the bus service was great to get to the parks. Way less crazy than Disney Parks. It had lots of dining options as well. Would go back again. Great price when we went.
Exceeded our expectations.
Rooms are large and clean. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. There are perks to staying here. There is an onsite bowling alley and a variety of food. Be prepared to spend a lot of money for these conveniences .
Not worth the $ will not stay here again
My family and I decided to stay here as a vacay package offer. We were excited about the retro vibe we were looking forward to . We usually stay at our timeshare but wanted to try the actual "hotel" vibe this time. BIG MISTAKE. I mean it served it purpose but so would a motel 6. We rarely saw anyone in any areas other than the common areas. The halls were vacant. The key card didn't work to enter the hotel not even sure how you needed the card to enter the parking structure. We had to call for assistance every time this was everyday for the whole 5 days we were there. Was told we had a volcano bay view but it was actually the behind the scenes of the park. We were able to see about half the volcano lol . All we saw was generators and air conditioners. Rooms are average and need a good cleaning. Our room seemed stuffy. Could tell room hadn't been occupied in some time could literally run my finger across the bed frame and collect dust. I tried to pay no attention to this just because I wanted to relax and be on vacay. Mattress on the couch had stains and smelled. I wish the hot tub was open said due to covid it was closed but I really had looked forward to this. Did not even know there was a pool with a slide until I seen the other reviews so def was not informed of this at all. I received no prior notice that it was closed. On the second say about 11 am I was curious as to why room service hadn't knocked on our door as they usually do at like 9am in past experiences for cleaning. So I called the front desk where they informed me that they don't clean rooms due to COVID and I could leave the dirty towels and garbage outside the room and someone would come collect and if I needed a replenishment they would send someone up. I mean this was ok but I wish I was told this at check in. As a mother of 4 kids this is something I look forward to not actually having to clean up but I had to request a vacuum and just kept it in my room and I felt I just constantly cleaned. Should of def received a break on the price because of this Our room was also about a 1 mile walk from the lobby so we just drove every time we wanted to go to lobby and get breakfast. The prices were overpriced but that's expected for hotels. The Starbucks was regular priced though. I requested a in room crib and it was filthy, it hadnt been wiped down since prob it was purchased The lobby gift shop was full of great merchandise. They had a little something from each area of Universal in case you forgot to pick something up when you were in the parks. When we got home I thought I left something behind I called the hotel and asked if anything was turned it she said the room was actually still as it was left and they dont clean the rooms for 48 hours due to COVID. So I was actually thinking no wonder why the rooms smell they literally sit for 2 days before they are cleaned. I literally left a huge bag of garbage. Wouldn't recommend to a big family looking to escape.
