My husband and I came here for a quick weekend and had a wonderful time. The lobby, restaurant and outdoor area seemed recently updated and was nice. I was super impressed with the hotels restaurant. Every single meal we had was delicious and great portions, the staff was on top of their game.
Dirty and outdated
Just stayed at this property and want to share some observations. I’ll start by saying the staff that I encountered are very nice and professional. My concerns are definitely not staff related. That being said the general condition of the rooms here is deplorable. The carpets in the corridors as well as in the guest rooms is very dirty and in need of replacement. The rooms have soiled furniture and stains on the walls. There is just a general feeling of uncleanliness. The filth at this property is not a housekeeping problem but the fact that the rooms have not been updated in many years. Also, this area is not on the nicer end of International Drive. The restaurants in close proximity to the hotel are mostly fast food places. I don’t feel particularly safe walking around and would strongly recommend not walking around that area at night. This property needs a total overhaul.
Cleaning is not a priority
They started good the girl at check-in was very pleasant and accommodating as you would expect but don't always see anymore. When we got to our room I went to put our drinks in the mini refrigerator and found two cups of water left from previous occupants a few minutes later my granddaughter says their is a mask under the corner of the bed. Apparently Clara or Carla who signed the room cleanliness statement card from the hotel doesn't understand what clean is in the world we live in today. It is unacceptable to find these items in a room really at anytime now or pre-covid. Food service was way below standard the dining area was dirty almost no tables wiped down and sterilized. At dinner there was nothing acceptable. We had to ask the bartender/order taker to clean a table. She was rude complaining she was the only one there. We ordered simple food and was told it would take 15-20 minutes over 45 minutes later we had nothing. Went to the counter to cancel and the bartender wouldn't even acknowledge us only paying attention to those ordering. We left and went to the front desk advised the shift manager of our dissatisfaction with everything. She was aware they were short staffed and were surprised at the volume of bookings during spring break. She said she had advised the General Manager of the situation at the hotel. This was the last weekend of spring break. Maybe you were surprised at the start but surely you can fix the staffing issue by the end of the week. I do not advise staying at this hotel as there is a severe management problem that filters down through every level and every department in the hotel. Do not expect it to be clean or safe they don't care about cleanliness. We will never stay at another Crowne Plaza.
Great Customer Service
Had a reservation at another hotel we went there and the place was super dirty; called the Crowne Plaza Universal which was across the street and they had rooms available. Sandra A. was a life saver and accomdated our large family in adjoining suits. Hotel rooms clean, and great amenties. Every single staff member was helpful from front desk to housekeeping; the security guard even helped out. Enjoyable experience and have found my go to hotel when in Orlando. (Only negative no Netflix or other apps to sign in for TV)
Ample rooms great location! They are clearly gradually updating the place, but doing a nice job! Beds were comfortable- was sad to leave and head to our condo for a few weeks. Wish pool were heated... but overall nice place!
