Lost reservation, but handled it well. Amazing room and nice hotel
After a long journey from England we arrived to find that somehow our reservation had been lost. It was Superbowl weekend in Miami and it was very busy. The staff on reception handled the situation very well, immediately organising us a complimentary cocktail and seating us while we waited for them to resolve the situation. After around 15 minutes they came back to us and apologised and told us that the room-type we had booked was no longer available, but that they had found us a slightly different room. We followed them up and we'd now been given a suite on the top floor with an ocean view- it was amazing and the whole situation was handled very well. The hotel itself is nice, in the art deco style, is in a great location, with a nice pool and bar area. The views are excellent too. All the staff we came across were great too. Sadly, we had only booked for one night but I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.
Amazing staff; great location
I visit South Beach several times a year and always stay at this property. My number 1 reason for staying at this resort time and time again is the amazing staff. Seth Frank, concierge, was very helpful in securing a late checkout. Seth was also very knowledgeable about the local cuisine and restaurants, and not only made recommendations in Miami, but also in my hometown New York. The staff at the beach, notably Chase and Kervin, provided excellent service and checked in with me several times throughout the day to see if I needed anything. The interactions with staff make me feel like I am home. The resort is a beachfront property and if you can get an oceanfront room with a balcony, I highly recommend it!
Enjoyed our stay. Great location
In town for a concert and football game and we booked 3 rooms here. Location was great, rooms were nice (not amazing), great pool area and easy access to the beach. I would definitely stay here again. As with most hotels on S Beach, this hotel is old however it is nicely renovated. I did not valet. I dropped the family off and parked a block and a half away in the garage for half price. We weren't planning on using our vehicle much so decided to park it for the weekend. Took a star off for bad organization at check in. We asked for the 3 rooms on same floor and called the day before to remind them which they said no problem to but on check in they couldn't make it happen. Also took about 15 minutes for them to find the 3rd reservation even though they were all booked together. Aside from that experience and no fridge in the room, the stay was very nice.
Disappointing at Every Turn with No Idea How to Run a Busy Hotel
I stayed at this property for five nights - checking in January 26th and out Friday, January 30th. At every turn, my stay was a huge disappointment. Let's start with the fact that upon arrival at 12:30 p.m., I was told they would rush my room and that it should be ready well before the published check-in time of 4:00 p.m. I completely understand early check-in is never guaranteed, but I was hopeful given my Elite Bonvoy Status combined with the fact that 4 p.m. is already a late check-in time (although common for South Beach). At 4 p.m., my room was not ready. Nor was it ready at 4:30 p.m. Finally, at 4:45, my room was ready. Having flown on a red-eye and needing to meet co-workers at 5:00 p.m. this meant I had no time to nap, shower or recharge myself. It would have also been nice if they had been more upfront, letting me know that my check-in time likely would not have been until 4:00 p.m. That way, I could have made alternate plans. Unfortunately, the delay in my room being ready after the published check-in time also caused me to be more than an hour late to my work event. Front Desk Associates seemed frustrated at the overall situation as well, but had a "mehh oh well" attitude throughout the ordeal. Below is a quick snapshot of my other issues: 1) Clearly Housekeeping did a rush job on my room to get my room ready - with giant hairs in many places in the bathroom that were not mine. 2) The online property photos are deceiving. The oceanfront room I paid a premium for (upwards of $900.00 for the 5th night) was lackluster at best. There is actually only one sliding glass door with a small balcony. The rest is a wall that is covered by curtains. 3) On the day of my check out, Housekeeping staff were involved in a major argument - actually screaming at one other. From what I could gather, there was some dispute between three housekeepers and a housekeeping manager. Screams included "you're a liar!" Very bizarre, startling and unprofessional. 4) The elevators all went down during one morning of my stay. That was a fun trek down to the lobby. 5) The rooms are overall dirty and in disrepair. The entire property needs a huge refresh. 6) I asked for a late check out of even just 30 minutes or an hour so I could take an important work call in complete quiet. I was denied. This added insult to injury given my a) $900 room rate the previous night and b) the fact that my check-in was delayed causing disruption to my work. 7) A $75.00 F&B credit I was promised due to my late check in did not automatically post to my Folio. To get it to post, I had to go stand in another long line at the Front Desk and then the Front Desk Agent had to manually post it. That was another nice little chunk of wasted time. 8) After I completed an online Marriott Survey about my stay, a Front Desk Manager named Juan sent me an email offering to discuss my unfortunate stay. I emailed him back a few days later and provided my phone number and let him know he could call me. I never got an email back or phone call from him. Definitely a sour spot in the Marriott and Marriott Tribute Collection, and there are far too many great spots in South Beach to stay here again.
Jose Perez is the best egg chef this side of USA
The staff is what makes the hotel special. From the dining manager to Jose to the front desk attendee Lovely The rooms in the other hand are a bit dated. The amenities are also a bit dated. Valet staff is excellent, bar staff is good.
