Fine, but not exceptional
We stayed at the Loews for our wedding anniversary for 3 nights, and found the hotel to be fine, but certainly not exceptional. Room: The room was clean and newly remodeled, but there are a few things that need to be fixed. For example, the outlets in the lamp on the nightstand were broken and at one point, sparked when I pulled out a cable. They placed us in a corner room, which sounded good at the time, but it directly across the hallway from the housekeeping closet and therefore, it was VERY noisy for approximately 6 hours of the day with audible door slamming, cart rolling, etc. If possible, do not accept a hotel room in the corner of the main hotel (room numbers ending with "01"). The view was of the street. Service: This was a mixed bag. There were some very kind employees, many average, and some who were downright rude. The attendant at the spa, Patrick, kept telling us that we did not have access to the fitness center even though it is clearly an amenity listed on the amenity card provided to us at check-in and on the website for the $32/day resort fee. He went as far as following us into the fitness center after his co-worker let us through to tell us that we weren't "on the list." Luckily, a quick text to the service line fixed this issue (thanks, Melanie!). The text line is very convenient, and staff are quick to respond. Beach and pool: We didn't spent any time at the pool but did take advantage of the the beach chairs (also part of the amenity program) and towels. Renting an umbrella was $27/day. We didn't order any food or drink, but noticed that the servers were always available and very pleasant. Note that the beach is public, so there is a ton of secondhand cigarette smoke and some loud music played by less considerate beachgoers who play music on bluetooth speakers. Food: We only purchased food and drink from the coffee shop. The food and drink were fine. Note that there is an automatic 20% gratuity added to everything, even for takeout coffee. Location: The hotel is nicely located in South Beach. The backside of the hotel is on the boardwalk, which is great for running, walking, and biking. Collins Avenue is very loud and lively - on one night, someone set off fireworks at 1:30am, which woke us up, but isn't exactly atypical for South Beach and nothing that the hotel can control. Other: 1) We also took advantage of the additional amenity of a resort photo shoot from Focal Point, LLC. The photo session itself and one branded image (branded with the hotel logo) is included in the resort fee. Felipe was our photographer, and he is fantastic - punctual, kind, and easy to work with. Purchasing the photos involves a review session the day after (so make sure you're not booking on your last day at the hotel). Be expected to go into sticker shock when you see the prices of the digital and printed photos, though. The photos are lovely, but they are incredibly expensive to purchase. 2) We noted that it was our wedding anniversary weekend when booking the hotel room. While I don't expect anything grand from the hotel, any recognition, even in the form of a "happy anniversary" greeting at check-in would have been nice. However, we didn't receive any acknowledgment at all. Other hotels have upgraded our room and/or left notes and treats in our room.
Our go to Birthday Celebration hotel
Excellent staff and facilities. Hotel provides choices for dining and is in the heart of outside choices. Staff is very attentive and helpful. This was another birthday celebration trip as was our previous and the complimentary birthday dessert and Prosecco left in our room was an excellent exclamation on the friendly service.
Definitely not what I thought it would be
Definitely not what I thought it would be. I always saw the Lowe’s hotel and thought it was a very high-end place, the pictures look great. However was very disappointed once I made the reservation. The pool is average for the beach, everything was Grossly overpriced, it’s definitely not good for families. The hotel rooms were decent but average. I was most disappointed by the staff and their inability to provide support given the level of status I thought the hotel was supposed to be. I’ll put it this way the Hampton Inn staff perform this group on any day of the third of the price.
Had a wonderful time during my stay this weekend. Everyone was helpful and polite. I’ll definitely be back. The check in process was smooth. The amenities are great. The. We had great vibes at night. Overall excellent experience.
Something for everyone
We stayed as a family with young kids - 3 years and a 6 month old. The staff were so friendly throughout and the way that they catered for families was excellent - the boys were given a book which we read each night about Miami. They were given crayons and cuddly toys at breakfast. There is kids club although ours were too young even if we had wanted to use it. The rooms were lovely - beds really comfy. Crib was provided with blankets and a kids toiletries bag with nappy rash cream, Johnson’s toiletries and wipes. Really nice touch. Location was great - there is a boardwalk outside so my husband and I were able to get in some lovely sunrise 5km runs. Breakfast was great - really good selection. A bit pricey but in line with Miami I think. My only negative feeling on the hotel is that it does suit many different groups - families, couples, party goers, business groups etc and you can hear the next rooms / corridor easily. As a result, we were often woken by party goers and often had the kids on the beach by 6am to stop them from wakening others. That said - it was a few nights in a lovely hotel with good food, a good pool and great location. So...in spite of my criticism, I would stay again if we were back in Miami.
