Bath lovers, beware; many glitches in a 3-day stay
I was at the Loews Miami for a business conference. There were a number of glitches during my stay. For starters, when I checked in, the computers kept crashing so it took forever to check in and get a room. As a result, I was late to my first meeting. When I went to that first meeting, I found that the meeting room wasn’t set up. The front desk had to assign us a different room on a different floor. When I got to my room that evening, I found it didn’t have a bathtub. When I called the front desk the next morning, I was told that there were no rooms with a tub available in this 790-room hotel. Then I received a text message offering to provide me with a room for the tub, but only if I paid an $80 a night upcharge. Then I received another text, asking me to contact the front desk. I did so, and learned that a room was in fact available. I was told to go to my room and pack up. While I was packing up, I received a call from the front desk, warning me that the new room would not have a balcony. In response, I said that I would have to review the hotel in TripAdvisor. Suddenly, the front desk located an available room with a tub and balcony. It was just two doors down the hall from my original room. The rest of my stay was relatively uneventful, until I tried to check out, and learned that the hotel’s credit card machines were not working. I was told they would email my final bill. But the hotel did not do so. I had to call the hotel three days later to get a copy of my zero balance bill.
Attentive banquet staff and delicious banquet food!
Two-days at business event was enough to impress me and make me want to come back again and stay longer. Everyone was extremely responsive and made the extra effort to ensure I had everything I needed. Made it personal and fun. Beautiful property which provided ample places to relax or talk business.
Stayed at this hotel with several colleagues for a work trip for 4 nights. We were greeted promptly at arrival. Check in was slow but I think it was due more to the needs of the guests in front of me than a hotel issue. Check in staff was very friendly and patient. I had a partial ocean view which really faces the building next door and the roof of part of the hotel. I was informed of this at checkin but chose to accept it for the guaranteed balcony and because it was available for an earlier checkin. The room was spacious, clean and bright with comfortable beds and convenient space for working. The extra large towels are a nice touch and towels generally were plentiful. Ordered room service breakfast 3 mornings. It was prompt, hot and well prepared. Housekeeping was friendly, efficient and considerate. We rented a cabana in the adults only area one day and had excellent service all day from the wonderful Alex. She was very diligent and kind in making sure we had all we needed and that the area was only used by the guests who rented cabanas. The hotel bar was overrun most of the time due to the conference - not the hotel’s fault. Some service was better than others but it was always friendly. The location is perfect with easy access to the beach and restaurants and shops on Lincoln. We ate at Lure one evening and had no trouble getting a last minute seating. We enjoyed a lovely table outside and a variety of foods from the diverse menu. We left for the airport before 5 am and had assistance with our luggage and a car without delay. I expect to be back for the same conference next year and look forward to it!!
Excellent Hotel On The Beach
We have stayed at Loews several times and really like it. We were here for a business convention which it handled well. Nice room with a partial ocean view and balcony you can sit on. Clean, nice service, nicely decorated wtih some nice modern lifeguard stand pix. Nice pool complex and beach service as well. The beach is wide here. Excellent “Miami Joe” coffee shop with really good croissants etc, and full espresso type service. Really nice people. Nice staff. It’s right in the heart of the Art Deco area; a short walk to Lincoln Road Mall and its shops, Espanola Way with its Cuban and Italian restaurants. You can even walk to Joe’s Stone Crab from here....1.5 miles. We would definitely stay here again.
Very nice for beach access
We just got back from a very nice few days in their St. Moritz suite. The positives: Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was good. St. Moritz suite was very nice and clean. Access to spa facility is a plus. The negatives: St. Moritz hallway to suite smelled doggy. We are used to expecting some light music entertainment poolside at these higher end resorts and they don't have that. Can't figure out why rooms/suites at all hotels in general don't provide clothes trees/places to hang your wet suits/clothes. Homeless drug addict snuck in through unattended gated access from beach but was confronted and escorted out after I made them aware. Beach and ocean are nice but man-of-war pieces were all over beach and we were warned that they were prevalent along South Beach right now. So beware to not get stung while swimming. Bike/jogging path along South Beach a nice amenity. Overall, a very nice stay and staffed by wonderful people who emphasize customer service.
