Nice resort for families
We wanted to stay here as we thought that we could kayak or snorkel in the protected bay. You can NOT. You can only snorkel in the lagoon which is not very clear. This is a great place for families, huge swimming pool, lagoon, dolphins, activities for kids :} However, for couples who love to kayak the bay or snorkel in the bay or ocean... not so much. Glad that they have an adult pool and area only. They have a shuttle that takes you where you want to go which is a plus or you can walk as we did. We enjoyed the Marina.
Perfect in every way
Our family just returned from Hawks Cay. What a perfect place for a family. There’s none better in the keys...We’ve tried them all. Splash pools, kids pools, putt putt golf, soccer fields, beach volleyball, basketball court, jungle gym, kids club...and that’s just one part of the resort. You have three other pools to choose from and a salt water lagoon. The activities are endless. There was a stretch where my wife and I forgot our kids were even there. They were so busy doing other things. They also have a water sports company that does kayaking, and sunset tours which was a big hit. We stayed in a Sanctuary Villa, which for the money is so worth it. We’ve stayed at other villas on property but for a family, it’s worth the extra money to get a Sanctuary Villa. They have much bigger kitchens and living space and a private pool so the kids can enjoy the morning while you hang and drink coffee. Most have been upgraded since the hurricane too. Ours looked like new tile and new pool. If you need food for the week, the Marathon Publix delivers through InstaCart which is fantastic. It’s nice to have the larger Sanctuary kitchens for this reason alone. Didn’t have to spend two hours dealing with grocery shopping. It was there right after we checked in. If you aren’t eating in the villas, the food options are plentiful on property, and they’re all solid. If you want to get off for a meal, SS Wreck is right down the street. Best Key Lime pie in all the Keys. Location is nice because you can get to Key West pretty quick, or up to Islamorada so those are dinner options as well. Everything is in play, that’s why the location is key. Overall, we will come back....no doubt. Our family had a blast.
Nice resort, but way overpriced.
Pretty resort with kids pool off main lobby and an adults over 21 pool around the corner facing to the Southeast. There is staff that will come around and take drink & food orders. Plenty of pool chairs in the morning, but after lunch is does get busy. Pool towels are checked out right outside of lobby. Have to make sure you bring towel back or it says you will be charged (I believe) $20. There is a small area that is suppose to have towels by the adult only pool, but there were never any towels there. Food is expensive for what you get as well as drinks. Gratuity is not included. I thought the menu at the Tiki Grill, Marketplace and Angler & Ale were fairly limited, especially if you were a picky eater. Pizza is good at Tiki Grill and is delivered to your table in a pizza box! Lagoon burger is good-which is basically a burger with lettuce, tomato, onion & cheese with fries, beans/rice, or fruit for $15. It is enough to split with a girlfriend if you aren't super hungry. This was a girls getaway for 3 nights which as booked on Travelocity-which was the first mistake. We picked a family guest room which is a king bed with bunk beds. We were put in Room 1116. HORRIBLE. We paid $800 per night for this room which was at the end of the hallway, with a view of what appeared to be the employee entrance/exit. There was no patio/balcony-not that you would of wanted one. It faced north, looking at the back of a building about 75 feet from your window. NO VIEW AT ALL. No sunset, sunrise. And there is no microwave or mini fridge in this room. There is what is called a "COOLER" that looks like a mini fridge but isn't. We had to get ice and keep replacing it to keep pop, water, etc. cold. I guess if you book a package thru Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia that is what the resort does.....it was like they punished you for not booking thru them?? Lesson learned. There was an additional $42 resort fee, plus tax on top of that PER DAY which amounted to almost $50 per day EXTRA! I think there are probably places that are just as nice to stay at that would be cheaper if you want to have a hotel room and be at a pool, especially with kids.
So relaxing on the beach at the saltwater pool. We had an awesome experience at the spa! Brian went above to ensure we had a very relaxing time. Dinner was very good at 60 Prime and ended the evening at the fire pit by the adult pool.
James was our concierge at the adult pool and he was awesome! James helped us with everything we needed and made our days easy. Ask for him, trust me. Omar helped us at Prime 61 and by the pool, he was great! Overall very good experience for our family. Highly recommend
