Perfect Visit For This Family with Teens
During a school fall break, we took a family trip to the Florida Keys. I had been there decades ago, but the rest of the family had no idea what to expect. Traveling with, and finding things to keep a 15 year old, and a 16 year old can be tough. They are often not impressed, or to cool to admit they are impressed. But Hawks Cay Resort was perfect for everyone. We reserved a two room villa, and were assigned to a unit in the Harbor Village. This area is about a 10 minute walk from the main pool, but if you take the boardwalk, you will see tropical fish, birds, iguanas, boats, and more all along your walk. The villa was ideal for giving everyone a little space and for having not one extra, but two extra bathrooms (total of 3). My only criticism of the villa is that the kitchen was very sparsely equipped with cooking utensils. Besides flatware, there were a few random assorted cooking tools. So, don't plan on actually cooking anything significant. We stocked up breakfast food and some snacks from the Publix in Marathon which was about 20 minutes away. There is also a little convenience store just south of Duck Key which had some staples not available in the hotels market. The pool area was awesome. Andrew, the activities guy was full of energy and a source of entertainment every day. We utilized the free paddle boards at the lagoon and the noodles in the pool. The only restaurant we used was the pool bar. We went off property for dinner each night. My kids talked me into paying for the Dolphin Encounter experience and I am glad I did because even weeks later they have declared the dolphins were the best part of the whole trip! All in all, Hawks Cay Resort was a complete success and I would go back anytime.
Odalys was wonderful! She even made dinner reservations for us at a amazing restaurant. We had a very relaxing time. If you have a need to disconnect from the daily stress of life this is the place to go! Alejandra
Great Location--Friendly Staff--just not enough of them
Room on move-in immaculate. But be aware, if you want the room CLEANED, you have to get on the list 24 hours ahead of time. Otherwise, if you're lucky, you will get a "refresh", which is a bag of clean towels--but no one removes the old ones or empties the trash. Which may be why the trash can in the ice machine room overflowing. There was usually one person at the front desk, but check in was slow. Make sure you check your receipt at their "Signature Bar" before you give up your credit card. Plus side, there are several pools, including an "adult" pool, and some fun, if not obnoxious, games at the main pool. Give this place a try, and make sure you get an ocean view room. The meeting facilities are good, and they keep the shared bathrooms clean.
Another Wonderful Vacation!
We just returned from a perfect vacation at Hawk’s Cay Resort. Special shout out to all of the staff but especially Bob Moore, Jordyn Boonie and April Melendez who went above and beyond to make this trip exceptional. We had such a great time that we booked two more trips one in November and during Christmas! In addition, our son is getting married 12/3/21 on property. We are looking forward to returning in a few weeks. If you have never visited Hawk’s Cay, you need to go. You will not be disappointed at this beautiful resort with fantastic service! Drip drying in Duck Key
Hawks Cay’s best days are behind it. It’s a little run down (not too bad), but the service sucks. I mean it really sucks. We asked for housekeeping (yes, you have to ask). It never came so I called to get towels. Then my wife called to get towels. Then I called again to get towels. My wife is currently drip-drying which is not bad for me. The pool bar has no service, but there is a guy making sure you don’t bring your own drinks in. I’ll get back to you about the towels.
