Very expensive . They gave wedding parties more attention then the regular guest. Found live bug in my room on my bed. I ask for a towel at the beach was told waiting on laundry. But another guest was escorted to their beach and given towels , When i asked again about towels told once more waiting on laundry. Not worth the money.
Minor negatives that corrected could put hotel experience over the top
Please see suggestions above. They are easily done and would have made a great experience perfect. The few $ the service might cost could be added to suite price without affecting price perception at all.
Emphasis on history vs quality
Overpriced for quality of room, bathroom is ridiculously small. Restaurants are overpriced especially Uncle Andy's. Available bikes are beyond useful life, poorly maintained, hard to have a fun bike ride, should fix or get rid of them, poor reflection on property.
Simply the best.
Stayed at the Don Cesar during an on-site conference. The staff were exceptional, the room was terrific, lobby bar is great. I would definitely stay at the Don Cesar again in the future. Cannot say enough good things about it!
There are other places...
Check in was flawless, and then everything went south from there. Room was tiny, bathroom had absolutely no, none, zip, space to put a toiletry kit, toothbrush, etc. Not even a cup. Shower is so small, you can hardly turn around in it and I weight 130 pounds. Carpeting was soiled. Very little closet space. You do get a fridge and keurig. Pool(s) very crowded and loud. No adults only. Cannot believe they charge you $15 to sit on a beach chair. Not a cabana. That would be understandable. But a regular beach chaise? Never got a chance to sit at lobby bar. Went out to dinner 2 nights while there, and looked forward to coming back and having an after dinner drink there, but it was so loud (I don't know how anyone could have a conversation) that the music just echoed off all the high ceilings and marble. You could hear it before you entered the hotel. Many weddings at this venue on weekends, so if possible avoid Fri and Sat. Wedding parties would reserve ALL the watersports (jetskis, etc) and none available for others, They took over the spa, bars, and restaurants. Only good thing is we were only there for 3 nights. So many other choices in the area (Vinoy). Don't buy into any history hype about this place. Yes, it looks impressive, but that's about it.
