Gradually gone downhill. Plentiful but worn out amenities. Terrible room.
We've been coming to South Seas for years. We got married here a decade ago and now that we live in Fort Myers and have children, it's a fun & easy trip for a long weekend. Ever since our wedding, it seems like each trip the resort gets progressively worse and more run down; I'm not sure they've even painted any surfaces over the past decade. South Seas was just sold so I have very high hopes for the future but I question if anything will change assuming they keep the same management (maybe they had a strict budget so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt). This trip was a last-minute decision and we booked on Hotwire. I know that when you book on sites like Hotwire you should expect to get the worst room at any hotel, but the room we stayed in shouldn't have even been available to any guests. We were in a tennis villa (and we were allowed to check in really early, so they get points for that) and when we were going into the room we noticed our next door neighbors were switching rooms. We asked them why and they said their room had cockroaches in it! While we did not experience roaches, it didn't exactly set a good tone. Anyway, we walk into our room and it just smells terrible! A quick search reveals the kitchen trash wasn't emptied by housekeeping and it just happened to have a few dirty diapers in it and while we don't know how long they were there, it clearly had been a while. Next, we open the patio door to air the place out and notice that the table has no glass top (or any top) on it, rendering it useless. The patio screens were torn and the trim/caulking around the patio door appeared to me moldy. There were holes in the wall that were patched but not painted and the trim around the front door had various patched holes and broken trim. I'm not sure who is responsible for the repairs but they clearly have no standards or pride in their work. The light above the stove didn't work, the nightstand drawer wouldn't stay closed (that was fun walking into it the first night in the dark), and the sofa looked like it was taken from an old fraternity house. I understand that most of these units are privately owned but if owners want to have their units as part of the rental pool, South Seas should require them to meet minimum standards. We rented a cabana the first day and while the service was fantastic, the cabana itself was in terrible shape - torn fabric, missing bolts (the roof would rise up in the wind and you could see them slide out), and part of it was literally held together with zip ties. The amenities at South Seas are great, especially if you have children, but the overall condition of the resort really needs to be improved. And please add more golf cart parking by the main pool!
We had the most excellent time with our 4 children. The accommodations were impeccable at the Seabreeze Villa and the view was amazing. None of us wanted to leave. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent at all locations.
Girls trip to rejuvenate
Beautiful location. The staff was friendly and helped us with anything we needed. I enjoyed morning runs seeing the dolphins, pool time with friends, soaking in the ocean snd fresh seafood for dinner. It was very relaxing and special place to stay.
Very Disappointing- DiO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE
Our room was a beach villa, extremely small bathroom with poor shower/tub drainage. I had to go to the front desk to ask for someone to come and fix it and when they did fix the bathtub drain they left the tub filthy dirty. Wait staff was indifferent and rude. Front desk double billed my credit card for lodging . POT SMOKERS in our building made it impossible to use the balcony due to the stench. This “Resort” had no accommodations for breakfast. Our location was 2.5 miles from the main pool, golf course and restaurants. When I booked the weekend the front desk told me we were in walking distance to everything.
We booked a condo thru Vrbo for over the holidays in 2020. The booking said we could not use amenities of the resort only the pool outside the condo. We thought that would be fine. Because of Covid, we moved our trip to October of 2021. We are here and very disappointed to find out that even restaurants and the beach bar are considered amenities. The place is deserted and I am surprised they wouldn’t welcome us using a credit card for dinner. We will not return whether it was thru the resort booking or Vrbo. Kind of a snooty place
