Nothing like the resort in Captiva ! Great place and you will love all the restaurants and places playing music and beaches and pools and it goes on and on and on . Great wildlife and cruises and all kinds of fun stuff
No standards in units
We stayed at the SSR and liked the property. Sadly, you have no say in the type of unit you stay in. You can request one that is newly renovated but there is no guarantee you’ll get one. I’m sure you can guess where this is going. Our place was tired. It had, like, 4 plates. Ugly decor..... I would stay at this resort every year if they actually owned and maintained the places you rent. You really are at the mercy of the owner of the unit.
This a review from someone here right now.
Shawn, I am currently at the resort. You make statements on everybody’s review thanking them for their input but you need to do more than write a response. I am currently staying at the hotel. The grounds are nice but the the buildings need renovations. I am here with multiple families and many have toilets that constantly run, WiFi that doesn’t work, and amenities that are not provided. I understand that there is less cleaning but that means you are saving significant money on staffing. I am sure that is a positive to you as you have not allocated those resources to other areas that benefit your guests. Maybe you shouldn’t be charging $20 a day per person resort fee if the only thing you get is beach towels. During a busy vacation period you had tree work and large wood chipping equipment being done right outside the main pool. Fireworks went off at 10:30 at night when small children are trying to sleep. The fireworks were not part of the resort as they were not communicated to the guests. The bar service is ridiculous and not necessarily the fault of the bartenders but they don’t help. You have 2 bartenders servicing your main pool area and they can not keep up. Maybe the saving of not having cleaning staff you could shift that money to other guest services. I don’t believe this place is 1 star but I am sure if this place continues in this direction it will be tough to retain the star ranking you currently have. For the price point you can find many amazing places in the U.S. to visit instead. Instead of responding to me use that energy to help some of your staff in other areas.
We stayed at SouthSeas Resort in April of 2021 in a Bayside Villa - Room 5238. The resort is beautiful. But... our room/Villa was dirty. I traveled all day to get to Captiva and had taken a shower that morning and had wedge sandals on the whole day - except when I got to our room. We spent the whole first night in the Villa and I walked around barefoot - first time barefoot all day. When I took a shower that night my feet were making the tub floor black. You could see my footprints all over the bottom of the tub. I then checked the floor of the condo and it was filthy. Coffee spots and sticky spots all over the floor all over the condo. The doors were filthy. The refrigerator door was dirty. We had 5 other couples in our group and one of the other lady’s said she too saw the black on her tub and also investigated to find her floor and condo was also filthy. The floor tile was very chipped and old appearing. The decor was very very plain. No decor whatsoever on the walls, bedrooms, bathrooms. Nothing on the kitchen table or end tables or coffee table. Very under-whelming. The tv was hung crooked in front of some shelving that the tv did not fit in. There were no garbage bags or canister anywhere except the two bathrooms. Each had a 6”x 6” small garbage canister. Nothing in the kitchen or bedroom or living area. Where were we supposed to put our garbage? Eventually we found a box we could use and we bought a few things so we were able to use the bags those things came in. There were also only a scant amount of bedding. Every night I froze with no extra blankets anywhere. We rented a cabana at one of the pools one day and it was fabulous. Service was great. We rented a pontoon one day from Sunny Island Adventures and again had fabulous service. The guys there work very hard to make your day perfect. I don’t know how the other villas/condos/rooms are kept up but this one needs updating and a better cleaning service.
We stayed in bayside villas for spring break with the price tag of $800 a night. We saw one huge palmetto bug in the kitchen and a roach in the tub. The villas are loud every time someone opened a door, moved a chair above -we heard early morning and late night conversations. Took a really long time for food. Waited over an hour for one taco at the beach bar and at their harbourside restaurant also waited an hour. Ordered a grilled chicken salad at the scoops n slice and the chicken was frozen still. Captiva was beautiful and resort is pretty-not worth the price and the bayside villas not nice. I called front desk with noise complaint and mentioned the roaches-not one compensation item offered
