It was better the 1st time.
This was our second time staying at the Sandpearl. After a long day of traveling, we decided to try Tate's Island Grille. We ordered 2 grouper sandwiches and 2 orders of chicken tenders. The bill was over $65. The food was ice cold, like it had be in the refrigerator and reheated. I bought it to the attention of the staff and they came out with the same food (re-heated) 1 minute later. Needless to say, we did not eat at any of the rest of the restaurants at the hotel during our stay for fear of food poisoning. The resort was nice but our room did not have a working bathroom exhaust fan. Also, housekeeping did not come to our room at all during our 4 night stay, even though we had the "housekeeping please" sign turned on the door. I had to call to have fresh towels and coffee to be brought up to the room.
Christmas fun turned into nightmare.
Dear Eric, We appreciate you getting back with us and we respectfully disagree on how you characterized the events. In regards to the early check out fee, "there was no delay in letting us know that decision." The decision we recieved by your front staff was that we had to pay the early cancellation/departure fee. In fact, my husband's credit card was charged for those fees. They also told us that we should be greatful that we are not going to be charge a full amount but the $2007.65 Only after standing there and arguing for 20 minutes, we asked to speak with you and that is when Jordan went to the back to see if you were available. He told us that he spoke with you on the phone and was instructed to wave the cancellation fee. I appreciate your decision in waving the fee but I don't appreciate the way we were treated by your front staff during the whole ordeal. In regards to the bugs, bed bugs, fleas, sand fleas or whatever --there was something in that sofa bed that was biting our children. I guess you were fortunate to find a pest control company on a Christmas Day. Jordan told us a different story and it was your maintenance engineer who found no actvity he said. I am not sure what they were looking for, how well they looked for it and where they looked but I can assure you that there was something in that sofa bed. •We stayed in high end hotels/resorts so we wouldn't have these bad experiences. We only wanted a peaceful holiday. And especially during this time of covid, we feel better staying in properties like this thinking that extra measures will be taken to ensure guests safety and cleanliness. I would have never expected that we would have this issue in your property especially on a Christmas Day. We were not even offered a fisrt aid kit or a call to the closest clinic. I believe your hotel failed to provide these basic "duty of care" and hospitality standards. ~~~ Original Booked Dates: Dec. 24-29 2020 -One Bedroom Gulf View Sandpearl Suite Total Cost: $4438.64 with tax & fees (no breakfast included) Arrived: Dec. 24, 2020 at 7pm Changed to Standard room: Dec.25, 1am Departure: Dec. 25, 2020 at 3pm First Charge: $2007.65 including early check out and tax Final Charge: $909.29 Reason for leaving: Bed bugs in sofabed, unprofessional treatment of staffs, never followed up with a call, was never informed by staffs about letting other guests to have a late check out in our promised room, staff wasted our time. •After all the hassle we experienced on Christmas Day, they gave us a complimentary of $150 plus 2 free breakfast which was stated that those were the difference between the suite and the standard. We are very sorry for ourselves. After a very long hour of driving from GA, we were so excited to just to get to this hotel for Christmas Day. Unfortunately, this hotel is where we had our most horrible experience. We never complained in all our years of travelling until now. I hope no one else will have the same experience like ours especially on special holidays. Happy 2021 everyone and God bless those apathetic staffs in your resort.
We liked this gorgeous hotel, starting from the lobby with the bright murals, the nice pool area and the location next to the endless beach of Clearwater. Our room x59 was generous and appealing, facing the city but still a good view. We will come back.
Room was disappointing but resort great
This resort was wonderful! I love the pool and the pool staff were so sweet. My problem was with the room. We had a north facing room (room 513)..partial beach view with balcony. If you get placed facing north, do yourself a favor and just checkout. The hvac unit is so loud you can’t begin to use the balcony. Then at the wee hours of the morning the garbage trucks comes and makes beeping noises for 10 minutes. Then delivery trucks; it is nonstop! The hotel sends texts to ask about your stay, but never seems to respond. No apology, no comments. They just ignore you. I had a broken safe and bathroom door. The safe got fixed but again just ignore me when I ask to fix the door that wouldn’t close. If you get room 513, just leave.
Opportunity in Food and Bev Dept
Overall stay has been great. It is indeed one of the best places to stay in Clearwater. Only major complaint is food and beverage department. Out of 11 days either breakfast or dinner everytime I ordered which was everyday was either wrong or missing part of the meal. Order eggs and bacon missed bacon Ordered sorbet for chocolate ice cream Ordered Caprese salad no basil Ordered sesame bagel got plain Ordered a cup of almond milk twice and explained I wanted a cup Luke what a OJ would come in and still two tablespoons of milk. No butter no jelly Orders extra syrup no extra syrup Orange juice no straw Few others but amazed that every single glee time I ordered it was wrong and between tip and service charge you are tipping 40% of total bill. Staff is friendly Place is clean Pool and the actual restaurant great! The grill is great during the day met friends an hour before they closed staff more focused on side work . Waited 45 minutes for drinks food came out before and watched waiter drop food at table next to us and table let him know wasn’t theirs picked back up and gave to us.
