great memorial weekend trip
We were here on Memorial weekend. And had a great time. The resort seemed business as usual but you could see the extra steps they took for safety and it was much appreciated. restaurants and bars and service was impeccable as always. time to call out the studs. We spend our time on the beach and the beach servers really stood out. Everyone knows Bobby is the goat, and Bill isnt far behind. but i gotta tell you kyle and andrew are making a push, and if the bb twins dont keep stepping up their game, they could see their spots taken. Price surprised me with his versatility, able to make the transition for bartender to server seamlessly. Elaine has always been unchallenged as the female goat on the beach. Mackenzie was making a play for it, but until she recovers from her surgery 100%, elaine remains at the top . Although i will say the Turiah and jasmine are up for a challenge and are pushing her a bit. The beach guys setting things up continue to dominate. Ren and garrett are always taking care of you. and i even have to admit that even that chlamidia kid is starting to grow on me. Those guys do a great job. Those guys might do a great job taking care of the beach, but anyone who knows anything, knows that the beach belongs to the master...Matthew. That cat is a wild man, and knows how to handle things. it will be a sad day when matthew has to leave, but i think young dave could definitely do the job if needed. Pleasantly surprised by the spunk of Bella at the activity desk. I see big things ahead for her. Could she someday be the new Matthew?? i wouldnt say no to it. I will end this review by calling out Lydia at the front door. an absolute gem. goes out of her way to be helpfu. Just a great lady. This is the best hotel on the beach. and it because of these people and all the workers. I will be back.
Mothers day weekend
I called prior to arrival to check in and wasn't allowed so I confirmed my booking details. Upon arrival we were impressed. We Valetta the vehicle and checked in only to find out the information I confirmed earlier was not accurate and we were taking a lesser room for the same price. We were also handed a paper bag containing plastic bags and spray alcohol. The plastic bags were intended for dirty towels. We were instructed to place dirty towels outside the door and they would be replaced with clean towels. There would be no housekeeping service. Everything in the hotel was supposed to be at 50% capacity and definitely was not. Housekeeping never replaced the towels but they did take the dirty towels. Tates was nice but overwhelmed so there were extremely long wait times. It was almost impossible to get a chair by the pool because guests were allowed to hoard them. 1 of the hot tubs was reserved for 18+ only so you could not sit in it with your family. It was empty all weekend but the other hot tub was stuffed with people. The resort beach is nice but does not touch the water. Its sandwiched between the resort and the public beach that actually touches the water. Its a long walk to actually get to the water. You couldn't get chairs for that either. They had smores fires each night but the hours were limited. We also had another family join us at the resort for 1 day & night. They were waiting on their room (which they were overcharged for) and the front desk gave them a key to my room without my permission. Good thing they were my actual family. They didn't call me or anything, just gave it to them. Sent 1 of my kids up to the room to let them in and they were already in the room. Nice.
Memorial Day trip cut short
We were booked to stay a week at The Sandpearl over Memorial Day. We stayed for 2 nights and then quickly left the resort. When I called before we booked our stay I asked about what was open and how things are operating. Everything sounded perfectly fine. When we arrived we were told they are not doing daily housekeeping and proceeded to hand me 2 trash bags to use for our towels. We had to call for toilet paper and towels and toiletries. I called a few other resorts around the Sandpearl and all of them were providing daily housekeeping. There was no where for my husband to get a quick cup of coffee between 10 and noon because all the restaurants and cafe were closed. Employees were rude except the valet guys. We booked a new hotel at a cheaper rate that provides daily housekeeping and even turndown service. We were disgusted with the service at Sandpearl and will NEVER be back or recommend the property.
Covid 19 Getaway
The Sandpearl was the perfect relaxation getaway after being cooped up from safer at home orders. Our room and view was awesome. We will definitely be back this summer. The hotel is taking extra precautions to keep you safe. Staff are wearing face coverings and cleaning all surfaces.
Best Customer Service Experience at a Resort
My family and I stayed for 2 nights in April. Due to the virus there was nothing opened (no pool, no spa, no restaurants, etc). It was literally a stay for a change of scenery at home. My wife and I brought our 15 year old and 9 year old. We've stayed at some pretty nice resorts with high-end service, like the Ritz Carlton. But we've never had executive level people like Jeremy Van Dyke (Asst GM at Sandpearl) be so engaged on the front lines with customers. Covid-19 basically forced the resort to have bare-bones staff, and their leadership team like Jeremy and Eric, Ally and Brian, working the front desk, and customer service. It was quite remarkable how Jeremy literally made us feel like instant friends upon check-in. Clearly this was a strange situations, there weren't a lot of guests, and Jeremy had a little extra time than normal. But we mentioned a few times how we'd have liked to have shared a glass of wine with him and just heard his insite and perspective on the situation, and his passion for his industry and his profession. I have my own small business and have an eye for doing all we can to deliver superior customer service, so it was very apparent that Jeremy and Eric (GM who was working Saturday morning of our stay) have a deep desire to deliver exceptional service to their guests. The 4 staff people we encountered during our stay just seemed genuine and made us feel at home, like friends. My 15 year old told us our last morning how the stay made him "really appreciate nice things, and nice places to visit", which was after his stay which included no pool, no beach, no provided activities, no restaurants, and no friends. Coming from a 15 year old today, that probably speaks with more credibility to the overall level of exceptional service the team at Sandpearl delivered. Thank you, for the incredible memory!
