Timeshare Vacation Club Presentation Offer Discount Not Worth It
Booked a 1 bedroom suite through Hawaiian Airlines $10k miles offer for attending a 90-minute timeshare presentation and was disappointed with the room, dark first floor with no privacy, the overall property and management. Rooms Controller's customer service was poor. When I inquired about a higher floor upon check-in, she didn't follow-up the next day shortly after 10 AM like she told me on the phone and when I went to the front desk she scolded me saying she would call me when something was available. She went on to tell me they were having room issues due to weather (not prepared for rain storms?!), then called later offer another first level floor. No thanks! Timeshare membership cost was 1,000 points for $15k - total ripoff since there's no guarantee Marriott properties won't be sold in the future.
Third time staying, gets better each time
We returned to the property for a three-night stay during a visit to the big island. We stayed in one of the Na Hale Oceanfront suites, located away from the main hotel tower. It was wonderful, both because of its location (the view out to the ocean, and away from the mass of people) and the quality of the accommodation. It was comfortable and provided the perfect "home" away from home. Aside from the room, there was attentiveness from staff on the property and all went smoothly. Breakfast daily was a delight and overall the property provided everything we wanted and needed. My first visit to the property was not as positive. Since then, management has changed and there appears to be a better attitude about guests. All in all, based on this visit and the visit a year earlier, we are confident in the hotel's capacity for meeting guest needs and expectations. Based on this experience, we would not hesitate to return. This is a competitive hospitality environment and the Marriott appears to take seriously that guests have choices. They provide the basis for wanting to return.
A Break from the Winter Rain
I booked in a Partial Ocean view room through Costco. Our stay we very nice, room was comfortable and clean. Great service and a fantastic bed. Buffet breakfast was included and was very good. We'll stay here again.
Convenient and relaxing resort
Our family stayed at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott over the holidays. It was a nice resort that is convenient to two shopping centers that had places to eat and shop. The rooms were relatively spacious and well maintained. For those traveling with young children, there are handheld shower heads and a night light. However, the night light uses a blue light so it was counterproductive. In addition, the wall connecting the bathroom to the rest of the room is an opaque window so if anyone turns on the light in the bathroom, the whole room becomes very bright. The room has a small mini refrigerator which was nice. The resort has three main pools that seem heated. The largest pool is the infinity pool was the warmest. There is a cool sand pool that basically had a sand bottom that is connected to a regular smaller pool. The last pool is for the slide, but the water in that pool was very cold. Also, slide users need to be 42 inches tall. The beach is about a 5-10 minute walk from the pool area. The beach area was a decent size. There is a little kiosk that rents out snorkel gear and what not. There were other amenities that we did not utilize. Overall the resort was nice and we would stay there again.
This is a lovely property, with gorgeous views and landscaping. There is a great pool complex, with one pool that is heated, which my children loved. While the beach is stunning, there are many rocks upon entrance, so it is not very easy to swim. However, it is very calm by Hawaii standards, making it good for kids. Additionally, we were able to watch sea turtles sunning themselves on the rocks, which was a hit with the family! The hotel has a very nice, complimentary activity program for children (and adults too) which includes lei-making and shell decorating. The woman who runs this is lovely (and I'm sorry I can't remember her name). The property is located within walking distance to the Island Gourmet in the King's Shops, which has everything you need to make dinner or grab take-out. This is a nice alternative to meals out. The Lava Lava Club (which is awesome) is also in walking distance. Overall, we had a great stay and would be happy to return.
