Beautiful & Relaxing
Beautiful hotel inside and out. Perfectly located right next to beach, other resorts and the mall. Love the in room dining option and the robes in the room. We had the best relaxing trip here and can't wait to go back!
Great resort with only minor complaints
We went to Westin resort with 11 of our family members! It was heaven on earth! Expensive- but heaven! The grounds were beautiful and clean. The pools and water slide were big, clean and a ton of fun for the kids and adults. There was lots of chairs so you did not have rush down in the morning to save a chair! The beaches and ocean were stunning! The location was great. Lots of restaurants , shops and ice cream options at Whaler’s village right next door! I do have a few small complaints that didn’t “ make or break” our trip but may matter to someone else... Our hotel room was one of the rooms that have not been renovated - they were clean and honestly quite nice! The carpet for sure needed some TLC but was clean! This hotel has “ full size beds” which is a little deceiving. This is smaller than a double bed. So it was quite tight for two adults sleeping. My brother in law is a big guy and said he didn’t sleep well the entire trip as the beds were too small. Washrooms- the resort has a lack of washrooms when you are sitting in the pool area- this was a pain when any of the kids had to use the washroom as u were quite far from any facilities. Im not sure if this was normal or maybe some washrooms were closed down due to reno’s . Waiter staff- the staff waiting by the pool side are for surely over worked. It takes a long time to get their attention and then when they do it takes a long time to order food and get food- but the food trucks are so close you can easily walk and order and bring it to the pool yourself - this food was reasonably priced and very good! The reno’s did not effect our trip at all- it wasn’t loud or an eye sore! Overall we LOVED our vacation here and actually re- booked to try out their sister resort next year which we have heard wonderful things about as well! We took surf lessons ( super fun) boogie boarded, did the sea maui boat ( amazing - Geno was funny, knowledgeable and the food was unreal! Wonderful vacation overall! Thank you Westin Maui resort and spa! We loved it!
Over 1/3rd of the resort area is blocked for construction and they dont want you to know. They do not have any active restaurant to serve you after 5pm. Nor coffee shops. You have to walk to the nearby Village shopping center for Restaurants. I did not use room service because all the food is the same breakfast and lunch menu. When I told this at the front desk and ask to compensate at least the resort fee. He told me to complain your travel agent. They are overly priced hotel for the tiny rooms. At this time this is not a resort to charge a resort fee and they should let the public know it's under construction.
Micheal at pineapple desk is wonderful!
We met Michael on our first trip to Maui seven years ago. We stayed at the Westin hotel and he was the first to greet my then 5 and 7 year old kids with food to feed the koi fish and the famous thirty-something year old black swan “Newman”. We have since become owners at the Westin Kaanapali ocean villas north (about 1.5 miles away on the beach walk) and return every year. The first thing my kids want to do is walk the 1.5 miles to see Michael and Newman. His newly renovated desk is now located just past the lobby along the wall facing the koi fish pond. The Westin hotel has recently undergone extensive renovations in the lobby and pool areas and is currently renovating the restaurant, the spa and workout room, and building a crazy large guest suite with its own private rooftop pool. It is also putting in a real Starbucks next to the spa. The Westin is located right beside the shops and restaurants of Whaler’s village, steps away from excellent snorkelling and cliff jumping at Black Rock, and is right on the beach walk. You can walk on a path along the ocean almost 2 miles in each direction! You can watch the whales from your balcony or on the beach directly in front of the hotel. We’ve stayed in a king room and had 2 cots brought up for our kids. The cots are enormous and super comfortable, just like the Westin heavenly beds. We’ve also stayed in a 2 queen room. Both rooms were beautiful and had a spectacular ocean view. Please feel free to message me if you’d like more details on the hotel.
Working on getting better
Stayed here for 5 nights with my wife, stay was OK. The coy pond and new pool areas are nice, feel they should have had a swim up bar in the adult pool area. The beds were ok but not the most comfortable to sleep in, did not get a good night's sleep one night. Prices for the breakfast are very steep and drinks are expensive. The luau was nice but you will pay extra for pictures that they will take of you. The mai tai drinks you can get for free have little if any liquer in them, better off getting the beer or straight alchohol for the price you pay for this show. For people that like pork to be moist and maybe some sauce, do not expect that, the pork was dry and salty. Still a fun evening overall.
