Okay stay, but hotel is declining overall.
I've had several stays at this hotel and the recent one was my least successful, and it had nothing to do with COVID (although they do need to step up their housekeeping and cleaning measures.) Staff seem to have a less than caring attitude as if they are just clocking in and out. No hospitality vibe at all. My future stays in Chicago will be right across the street at The Drake.
This hotel is located in A very upscale area so you would think that the hotel would be a reflection of the area. I would have to say that it is anything but ambulant. I should have known when I was signing a form saying that if I checked out early I would be paying them $100 for an early checkout. With the pandemic Chicago is decimated, hotels are closed, there is no dining anywhere, so it's really a terrible situation. However this hotel is not one anyone should think about staying. I smelled smoke in the room, the bed could not have cost more than $99 with the old coil springs that are old and warned and you hear them every time you turned popping and jabbing you. So needless to say you will not get a good night sleep. Even sitting on the bed is uncomfortable because of all the Springs jabbing you in your buttocks. There is no bathtub to soak your buttocks and back after a long night of agony. The refrigerator didn't work when I arrived the cabinet to the refrigerator is broke they did give me another refrigerator which I will take a picture of it so you can see the quality that you're getting from the hotel. This is just an all-around horrible experience. I'm not sure if I can take the next 2 days maybe if I sleep in the chair it might be better. Clearly not a good Christmas and a horrible place to stay. It is in no way a 4-star hotel I would sincerely give it a 2-star and that's being generous. I'm also concerned that the comforter has not been washed. There is new linen and the comforter is sandwiched between the linen creating a deceptive look that the bedding is clean and new. For a portion of the night I thought that the smoke I was smelling was from the pillow now after Morning Has Come and daylight has presented itself it's clear that the comforter was most likely the reason for me smelling cigarette smoke all night. The room and the decor is adequate. But considering we're living in a pandemic time I would want to feel that my comforter as well as my sheets were changed. I would also like a bed that I can sleep in without pain and listening to coils pop all night. Please take a look at the pictures of the broken door and the quality of a refrigerator. I wish I could give you pictures of the coils popping from the bed but unfortunately that can't be filmed.
I traveled 7 hours to come here and got the worst service ever from the front desk rep name Jason. He was very rude to the point I decided to check in at the hotel across the street. After leaving I called him to get corporate number and he replied “Google it” I definitely would not recommend this hotel. With them prices I should have got great customer service. What a night.
Clean, great location and comfortable rooms. Beds are so soft and I had a lovely night sleep! Very limited contact with staff and the hotel is quiet at the moment so easy to socially distance within the hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay.
I have stayed here on several occasions and each time it’s a hit and a miss, never quite making the mark. I stay here because my employers booked it and not through personal choice. Each time I have been here there has been issues with wake up calls either for myself or for one of my colleagues. This ranges from not getting a call at all or to the wake up call being 15-20 minutes late. I’m sure the generic management response will give COVID as a reason to this unprofessional service however it has been this way for the last few years. The reception staff on the desk can vary in how welcoming or blatantly rude they are. I find it rather shocking in a country such as America that is apparently so service driven that from some of the employees at this hotel they can behave in such a poor manner with a lacking attitude . The cleanliness is a whole other matter and during this time of COVID it is shocking beyond belief that the rooms are not cleaned properly.
