Stop the hidden charge!!!
I book the room through a third-party website for a business trip and paid in full in advance. After the stay, I realize there was further amenity fee and health care surcharge. They didn't disclose the charge in advance when you book through other website. Room is dirty. Cablecar station right outside of the window so you know how noisy it is.
GREAT LOCATION BUT LOOK ELSEWHERE!
Great location - Powell Bart Station, Union Square is just a couple of minutes' walk. Convenient to talk bart from airport to hotel. Walking distance to Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf too. Room - Awful. Was given 419 and greeted with urine smell the moment we stepped in. Changed to 421 which was slightly better. However, we later realized the whole of level 4 smells bad once we got out of the lift. We even bought a bar of soap from Lush opposite the hotel to leave in the room to let the smell lingers on. Service - Unique at Front Desk and the chinese man helping with the airport shuttle were helpful. Housekeeping - Disaster. We forgot to leave the SERVICE tag on the door knob and our room was not cleaned when we returned to our room. Bath Towels - They were not absorbent (quality issue?) and we had to use the hand towels to clean our body. In such, look elsewhere!
If you’re there to shop, the union square location is perfect. But you need to be aware that the trade off is is the smell of urine, excrement, cigarettes and pot outside your hotel entrance. Homeless people asleep blocking the streets night til morning. Hotel service is atrocious. They suspended housekeeping blaming the corona virus. The few housekeeping that’s left entered my room at 8 am without even knocking on check out day. They charge an amenity fee that covers WiFi and the gym. I used neither. You’re not made aware of this fee until check out.
I'll spare you the details of the dirty room, filthy shower, windows that didn't lock, super lumpy bed, broken TV, etc.. Just look elsewhere near the Hyatt or Marriott near Union Square and don't stay here!
You get what you pay for
Went to find a hotel room near union square. Got this offer for Villa Florence and the price was great - so I booked it. Got there and was put in a tiny room. Bed, dresser, chair no desk, no space, tiny room. Two windows that looked out onto a wall 20 inches away and a dark airshaft. Technically they were windows, but I would have classified this as a windowless room. Shower had water restrictors in place that meant showering in a trickle of water. To put it simply - I got what I paid for. Paid almost nothing - got the same.
