Spring Break Review For Family Of 3
Two adults with a 9-year old child stayed 4 nights for Spring Break. Note we are Marriott Platinum Elite and got upgraded to a Resort Suite. Location is great and you can walk or 2 minute drive to main downtown with tons of dining and shopping. Service was 4 star but little issues outlined below drag it down to a 3 star review. We were told upon check out that we qualified for the discounted parking rate of $25 due to our Marriott status, but no parking was charged on the bill at checkout, normal rate is stated at $35 per night. Overall the property is just a bit dated in the public areas. Gates and railings are worn, some light fixtures in the halls were not working or had old bulbs. Inside our room was fine, but the sliding glass door would not lock and was pretty old (was not a safety issue since we were on the top floor). Nice recent furnishings and super comfortable king-size bed. We were at the end of the hall so super quiet as well for a good night's sleep. Staff definitely well trained and did their best. Hotel was sold out so pool seating was at a premium; you had to get inline by 9am when it opened to get a good set up. Unfortunately food and beverage options were limited to pre-packed foods and grilled items only. Pool staff kept drinks flowing but only from 11am on. COVID review - so no bell hops to assist with luggage, trash bins at times were overflowing since everyone was getting lunch and dinner delivered and there was a strange absence of large trash receptacles in public places. No maid service is given for safety protocols.
Alexandra at the front desk was awesome. Staff are really nice. I had an issue with the fridge and shower temp and they moved me right away. The pool was huge and fun, great drinks, especially the frozen cocktails! The rooms are clean and bed was super comfy. Very close (10 min walk) to shops and restaurants. Great little getaway!
Nightmare hotel. Ruined our trip.
First of all, I used an app with a “hot rate” feature which falsely hinted that I would get a different hotel. When I saw the hotel was Renaissance Palm Springs and after looking into the reviews here, I was disappointed and a bit worried about bringing my family to a hotel with cleanliness problems during a pandemic. However, I figured the risk would be low considering cases are down. I was wrong. The elevators were old, slow, and had poor air circulation with people getting on without masks. People in the lobby were not wearing masks. Our room was on the fourth floor and was dirty, stuffy, with a dated popcorn ceiling and visible dust in the air. The coffee maker was so filthy that my husband and I couldn’t use it. We got a room with a balcony but couldn’t open the door because a wasp’s nest was directly outside. Worst of all, I can’t say for certain what was the cause but my 4 year old son is now having symptoms of illness and will be getting tested for COVID. We didn’t come near anyone or use the pool, buffet, etc so our only exposures at this hotel would have been the room, lobby, or elevator. I completely regret not just accepting the lost money and getting a safer hotel.
Marriott dropped the ball on this location
My friend and I booked 2 rooms here for one night after renting ATV’s with the kids during the day, and really looked forward to a night by the pool and relaxation for the rest of the evening. Well Marriott had other plans for us. Turns out their pool closes at 7pm (we checked in at 6:30). There goes that! Supposedly due to covid but come on now, if you allow people to gather BY the pool until 11pm, why not let them go IN the pool? Makes no sense, and we’re also in a less restrictive tier as a state. This is Palm Springs. It was over 90 degrees at night. Tried to sleep and couldn’t do that either because the AC was so loud that it woke us up every time the thermostat kicked in. The room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned (see picture), and I don’t know if you know, but you’re expected to pay $35 a night for self parking. I had high hopes for this property, and the grounds and location are beautiful, but they need to step up their game, and also upgrade their AC units. It’s horrible. We were in room 2242.
This hotel was filthy and not covid safe. Because I booked with a 3 rd party no compensation. Guests were not wearing masks at pool bar. Elevators were filthy. Floor boards in room dirty. Bathtub dirty. Air vents dirty. Beer cans on ground in front of hotel. Had to pay 30$ a day for parking and security gate to lot was broken. . We called Marriott who said the property would get back to us... they never did.
