Management Sticks by Cancellation Policy in CV-19 Crisis
I rented the rooftop for a group event and we had planned a great party with over 100 business associates from around the world. When the CV-19 state of emergency was declared in CA my company had to cancel the event. The Solamar took a hard-line on the refund policy, holding us to thousands of dollars in costs for an event we were unable to host. The only option presented was as follows: "I just heard from my directors as well. We are able to use 25% of the cancellation towards another program to be used by August 31st, 2020." Before booking here, consider a national chain as Marriott, Hilton, IHG and others with whom I had other reservations, allowed great flexibility in either a 1-year re-book or outright refund due to the CV-19 pandemic.
Modern hotel with nice conference accomodations
Spent 2 nights here for a business meeting that was also held at the hotel. The common areas of the hotel are very nice, clean, and modern. Had a few pinch points when there was some confusion over the duration of my stay and one of the meetings ended up in a room that was way too small. Overall, nice place and it's in the center of all of the action of the Gas Lamp, the location can't be beat!
great hotel, good location, walking distance to everything, rooms very nice. Complimentary late checkout. valet, bars, restaurants, shopping, bald headed lady, jason at the front desk, everytthing was freaking off the snizzle
Great place to stay in Gaslamp Quarter
This hotel was a pleasant surprise for us. Bottom line at the top - we would stay there again and suggest to close friends that they stay there. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and had a nice modern theme going on. The front desk staff was great, not only in person but via text. In or out of the hotel, if I sent they a query or request, I heard back from them promptly. Only two elevators could be a problem if the hotel was very busy or one was out of service. Complimentary coffee and newspapers in the lobby in the morning is a nice way to start the day. Going out for dinner, there are lots of attractive restaurants within easy walking distance, including Water Grill across the street were we had a great meal. Bottom line at the bottom, we made a good choice on where to stay.
We stayed at this hotel for four nights following the end of our cruise, the reception staff could not have been more helpful. We were upgraded to a suite which had a lovely big bathroom with a large jacuzzi bath with shower, the view overlooked the baseball stadium, the suite was kept immaculate by the housekeeping team. This hotel is ideally located in the Gaslamp area for all the restaurants and bars it’s just a short walk to the sea front and marina. We would stay here again if we visit San Diego in the future
