driving up from san diego for a wedding. check in is at 4pm, the wedding is at 4pm. wouldnt accomodate an early check in at 1pm so my wife could get ready. the front desk manager just kept repeating that she couldnt guarantee it more than 5 times. thats some great customer service. in the end we had to find other accomodations
I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the Beverly Hilton. It was wonderful!! I am very shocked to read some of the bad reviews because we had a great time and thought the place was gorgeous. We had a king deluxe suite and were super impressed from the second we walked in. Lots of space, two huge high def TV's, very nice new furniture, very comfy bed, huge bathroom and the place was spotless! We also had a huge balcony that was great to hang out and have a drink on. I know they just did a huge renovation and it shows! The place is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. I don't know if it was because of Covid or what but we hardly saw any other guests and the place was very quiet. We never even heard the AC come on. We sat out by the pool at the lounge there and had drinks and it was very relaxing. Even with Covid restrictions it was quite comfortable and relaxing. Would love to come back!
Escaping the heat
We stayed here for 2 nights and overall really enjoyed ourselves. The upgraded room with the terrace was freshly renovated (as was the whole floor) with great views of Beverly Hills. We came to the hotel to escape the LA heat that weekend and the AC did the trick and then some. While the stay was really great, there were a few things that were a bit underwhelming but definitely not dealbreakers. Pros: big, freshly renovated rooms. Amazing views if you have the right room. Comfortable beds and terrace furniture. Friendly staff when you could get them. Re. staff - they were clearly stretched thin. I’m sure the hotel furloughed a lot of its regular employees and the skeleton crew at the front desk and restaurant was over their heads given how busy this Labor Day weekend was. Still, I have to give them credit for remaining courteous and friendly, especially the restaurant folks, who couldn’t have been nicer. Cons: this review is in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. There was no social distancing at the pool. We avoided it entirely but observing from above, it just felt like everyone collectively gave up. Once, I heard a guest complain about people smoking weed at the pool and security was dispatched but otherwise it didn’t feel like anyone cared what was going on there. People in the lobby were routinely without masks. I did see an employee make a comment to a guest to put his mask on, but there wasn’t a consistency in these efforts. Finally, if you tried to call the guest services number from the room, you’d be out of luck. The two people at reception were so busy they couldn’t take the calls. I think this hotel should hire a few more staffers so that they can service the guests who are there a bit better. Also...$50 for self parking?!!
Iconic Historic Hotel - Movies Stars and Presidents Stay Here
Everything about this hotel resonates with excellence from the lobby with a tropical fish tank set into the wall to an incredible pool area on the lower level. There are around 20 rooms that have direct pool access. Mercato restaurant is located on the pool level has grab and go meals including Pizza made in wood fired ovens. The views are incredible and range from the hills the north to the living walls on a lower level roof. Very high caliber security and the staff are dedicated and happy. Try to get a room with a balcony.
From George Vreeland Hill
The Beverly Hilton is a first-class hotel with first-class service. The list of celebs from all fields who have stayed here is staggering. Award shows are held at this iconic place. John F. Kennedy spoke here and Marilyn Monroe as well. Whitney Houston died here. Clearly a place with a lot of history. By the way, the food and drinks are great. Relax at the famous pool. I do.
