We stayed for five days. Took day trips from the lake and explored Glenn Canyon. The natural beauty of the area is amazing. We rented a speed boat for a day and truly enjoyed Lake Powell. The canyons are spectacular. Photos do not do it justice. Be sure to have your phone fully charged, as you may need the GPS to navigate the lake. The Resort is older and showing some wear. But our room was clean and comfy. Be sure to get a lake view room. Sitting on your private balcony in the morning with your coffee is great.
Tired and rundown
We stayed at the resort over the Labor Day holiday. Sadly our room was very rundown. The coffee maker was broken, the fridge was not cooling, the furniture was warped. The beds and linens were comfortable but the pillows were tiny. They were small, square feather pillows, I needed four of them and they still squished down to nothing. Made no sense. The bathroom sink was corroded, and the soap dispensers leaked. For the price we paid, I expected a lot more and better accomodations.
Not impressed. Even being on Lake Powell can’t make up for how awful this ‘resort’ is. $170 a night is a huge rip off. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere cheaper. I don’t think it could get worse. I would compare this place to a typical less than 2 star exterior entrance motel. The carpet is filthy (we aren’t talking a few spots, it’s ALL over the room). They couldn’t be bothered with scrubbing the tub/shower or with providing even a full roll of toilet paper. There is zero vanity space in the bathroom. And the furniture hasn’t been updated since maybe the early 90’s? Horrible. To top off all of that grossness, a standard room not only includes a parking lot view (which isn’t the problem) but it has an exterior door that opens to the parking lot with the ‘patio’ also being open for anyone to enjoy. Not what I look for in a ‘resort’ room.
The property is comfortable as long as you do not need any service it's a great place to stay
We took a long road-trip and decided to stay at Lake Powell for a few days so we booked this hotel on-line. If you have any questions and try to call, like I did, each of the four times I tried in the weeks leading up to our visit, the wait time on the phone was 40-50 minutes... and even when you do talk with them they do not provide a great deal of insight/information. When we checked in there were several people working at the front desk but none of them welcomed us to the property.. we were checked in just after 3:00pm, which is early but when we went to our room we immediately learned it was not cleaned. as there were wet towels laying of the floor and the beds were not made.. so we went back to the front desk to get another room and they said they should not have given us the room before 4:00... so we had to wait a good while for our next room.. We had a room with a view of the lake, which was nice. Like other hotels, during COVID-19, you will not get daily cleaning but you will get clean towels and wash clothes... We were curious about other activities around Lake Powell but when we called the front desk, we did not get an answer or person to talk with.. As noted the property is in good shape, it is a great location but the service is not good.
When I read some of the reviews right before taking the trip, I considered changing the reservation to a hotel in Page, but since it was only 72 hours prior to our arrival, I would lose a deposit. So I kept my reservation, and I am so glad I did. Apparently, some people are never happy. Their loss... The lake and mountain view was fabulous. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable. We were told upfront that due to COVID the rooms will not be cleaned until we leave, we were fine with that. That was not a surprise. All hotels are doing it now. We stayed in three places on our trip. The additional towels, cups, or coffee were available at the front desk at any time. The pool was beautiful and slightly chilled, just perfect in the middle of 107-degree day. We enjoyed the view of phenomenal sunrises between the mountain every morning we stayed there. We also were able to spot a few long ear jackrabbits eating the grass before the sleepy heads were up. We did not have a phone connection, but the WiFi was fine. The front desk assistant was very accommodating and offered to make long-distance calls for no charge. Initially, our room had an obstruction to seeing the lake, but the front desk was happy to move us to a different room right away. I cannot wait to come back to Lake Powell and Lake Powell Resort and Marina.
