Best resort we’ve visited
Let’s be honest, this resort is not cheap, especially when compared with other accommodation in Turkey. But there wasn’t a single thing that we could fault, and we had a fantastic 4 night stay. Location is wonderful, food very good, outdoor areas beautifully designed and maintained. Evening and daytime entertainment varied and enjoyable, and the staff... the majority of whom appeared to be in their twenties... were professional, friendly, and well-trained. It was good also to see that COVID guidelines were adhered to. This was our first visit, but won’t be our last. Most guests we met had been many times before, and we could understand why. It was also good to see Turkish families enjoying the hotel so that it wasn’t an exclusively foreign clientele.
Avoid at all costs!!!
This place is a joke... Word-of-the-mouth reputation in Turkey is Hillside enjoys highest quality Turkish and international guests - can’t be farther from the truth. Guests are disrespectful towards each other and the hotel staff only makes up excuses for promises they don’t keep. Sea is ok and food is good but there are many places in Turkey at this price point which offer superior service and better beach. I came after many recommendations from friends and was surprised to see how low the bar of vacationing is for so many people. I understand this place enjoyed quality clientele some fifteen years ago and offered proper service for the day’s standard but it is definitely not the case today... I would never come back to a hotel with such poor price-to-quality ratio and suggest you don’t either, unless you are OK with subpar service and a pool-like beach just to stuff your face with food day&night. New money Turks who haven’t summered in quality places populate and pamper the place to feel like somebodies. 2/10.
The worst vacation in 20 years
Poorest service for my 20 years travel experience. Wasted money and spoiled vacation. The hotel’s managers are rude and selfish. They provide more or less proper services only for Turkish people which are 90% of guests. Other people get the poorest service and the poorest rooms even if they pay for room top category. Very crowded hotel and unsafe, you can’t just leave your bag and go swim because it will be stolen. Our snorkeling mask was stolen near sun bed and the same day a bag of some Russian people was stolen. Meal in the main restaurant is just prepared not cooked, absolutely not eatable. Not enough sun beds in the main beach and not enough shadow space. The hotel positions as child welcome however the best shadow beaches are allow only for adults. Moreover you even can’t walk in shadow path with child because it goes to silent beach. Absolutely not client oriented hotel with poorest service.
Visited with friends in September had very high expectations as it’s very expensive and has very good reviews. Let me start by saying that the staff are exceptional and the WiFi is the best I’ve had in any hotel. I was very disappointed with the rooms they definitely need upgrading for a five star resort, if you want the quite rooms it’s a long way and lots of steps to get there not ideal for elderly or even children. Food was very disappointing the main restaurant does not have much variety and after a few days you will get bored. Trying to book anything is very hard for example pasha restaurant was always full, sauna and jacuzzi was impossible to get a slot in due to COVID restrictions. We paid good money for a resort which unfortunately did not deliver what was promised. Maybe it will change once the Covid situation is over.
Excellent, recommended, got too busy
It’s COVID holiday time, so even more research and planning than usual. We holidayed in Turkey in 2019 and were very impressed. So we were eager to consider Turkey again in 2020, COVID travel disruption notwithstanding. Hillside came recommended so we booked. It’s expensive but meals (and drinks with meals) are included and the resort itself is highly self contained in a beautiful setting with everything available on resort if you wish to stay there and not leave, you can do. Rooms are not luxurious and could be redesigned, but the air conditioned bedrooms were cool and quiet (though choose your block carefully as some could be noisy). Staff were excellent, but things dropped off considerably in our last three days as the resort, packed to the rafters, service fell away as staff were overwhelmed. During our stay, most guests were Turkish followed by Brits with relatively few of others as far as we could tell. Guests poured into the resort on our last weekend, leading to a noticeable reduction in service, lengthy waits for service, and facilities stretched. We chartered a yacht while we were at Hillside that was an excellent day out. COVID controls were good as far as we could tell. Hillside has three beaches, large pool area, all in a hillside setting with a forested bay / cove with glorious views and spectacular sunsets and turquoise waters that you can see 3m down. Food was good, the COVID adapted buffet was tasty but could get very busy. Highlights were the Pasha Club dinner and the Beach Club Italian dinner but good luck booking those as reservations are accepted for three days and were permanently unavailable while we were there (except 2/10 evenings when we did manage a booking). Hillside staff from all nations were friendly and attentive. There is a lot to recommend about Hillside, our visit was only marred by the resort becoming too busy and service falling away at the end of our trip, as well as rooms being not really up to the high standard of the rest of the resort and difficulty / impossibility of booking any restaurant other than the buffet.
