Large resort with plenty to do, very comfortable bed and so many pools!
My partner and I only stayed at Katathani for 1 night for a wedding. The highlights were the bed (so comfy and a king deluxe!) the 6 pools and the private beach. The staff were also great with the organising and on-site management of the wedding. The only con was how busy the resort can get. But we went in peak season so that wasnt a surprise.
Travelling with 2 kids 4&6 years. The resort was perfect, very safe, a lot of fun for the kids and a beautiful beach. Many different pools so the kids don’t get bored, mini market on the hotel with good prices and superb staff.
Dirty and for the masses
Terrible stay. Location and rooms feel like an inner city projects. On my last day, I had breakfast and returned to my room to change my clothing befoee my flight and they'd already checked me out....at 9:30...when check-out is 11. All my bags where gone and with the bell man. All my valuable. Everything moved out. In 30 years of international travel, I've never seen such a thing. On no plant is this a 5 star hotel. Maybe a 3 star. I would NOT reco. M. Thompson
Excellent in some areas, it breakfast needs improvement
We stayed here as a family with our 4 and 2 year olds. We stayed in a Grand Suite in the Thani Wing. We liked the room, amazing views over the beach (ask for room 1201 - it’s the best suite), comfortable air con, easy beach access, close to breakfast and restaurants and pools, and our daily house keeping was really excellent. So friendly and amenable to our requests. The beach itself was incredible clear blue water and clean. Best time of the day was early morning and sunset. We didn’t like the Buffett breakfast (we at in Chomalay). Not high quality. Croissants were stale. You get the feeling that they struggle to deal with the masses and just chuck food down in the silver trays to keep up. Coffee was undrinkable. By the last day I was dreading breakfast and had whittled down my intake to a plate of fruit only (perhaps good for my health anyway!). We also didn’t particularly like the clientele in the Thani Wing. When we took the kids to the Bhuri wing pools there were more relatable families with kids (... which makes sense). We also didn’t like the enormity of the resort. It’s hard to described just how enormous it actually is. It’s like a mini city. Overall it was an excellent experience and I think rating it as a 4 star hotel is fair. However, we will not return here until they improve the breakfast quality.
Excellent value for famiies
Beautiful property on the beach ,with the advantage of pools near the beach and an unspoilt stretch of beach immediately in front of the pools .Perfect for families with young children ,but enough privacy for those adults on their own .
