The hotel location is just awesome and our room no was 7220, which had an excellent ocean view and was so close to the beach… Loved the stay, the food and the wonderful view from the restaurant… Only wished if they could have given us an early check in as we have reached the hotel at around 12noon but had to wait for 2 hrs for their usual check in time.
Bad bad bad service rude rude rude staff
Stayed there for 4 days from june 17 to 21. Right from check in till my check out it was horrible experience with hotel staff and their rudeness made it worst. I was assured ocean view but the room given to had tree right in front of balcony and I had tree view rather than ocean view, when I requested hotel staff was rude to say NO to change or accommodate me. Then the quality of toiletries are so bad that my face got many marks. Washrooms are tiny with hardly any space in comparison with modern day hotels. Also, a big 0 for cleanliness. I was given blood stained towels. This hotel has nothing except for good location, which was blocked by tree for me. Breakfast is ok ok. Staff is very rude and is of no help. Very bad experience all together
This is one of the best resorts i ever stayed in. Its excellent in all aspects: Location is really close to center and is quiet at the same time. The resort is located uphill and made in a way that perfectly blends with nature with extraordinary views of the ocean and the greenery. The staff were very polite and proactive and never needed to wait for any request. I would call for a pick up from room and the next minute the internal transport is there. Breakfast had many options with really delicious food. Bed was super-comfy and you wouldn’t want to wake up. I will definitely plan my next stay in this lovely hotel. If you have a stretched budget go for the one bed room suit facing the ocean, worth it.
Dirty / Scam / Useless / Service-less hotel
Please do not think that I am writing this to damage the reputation of the hotel. I am writing this to reflect on my personal experience and the chain of events that happened to me while staying in the hotel. Day one started really well. I was staying in a Suite with a partial view on the ocean, the staff were friendly but one thing that I noticed is that it is not easy for you to move around the hotel as there is a lot steep ups and downs and as you know Phuket's raining weather does not make it easier and the their way of navigating around the hotel is by a buggy which they have only around 5 or 6 and there are many tenants in the hotel so in order for you to go from your room to the reception might take at least 10 mins waiting for the car to pick you up and that is if it showed up in the first place. I unfortunately started noticing lizards, ants and other insects and when I called the reception asking for some sort of pest control they just sent someone to clean the room :) Thank you but that was not what I was asking for. True that I am not a native English speaker but I believe when I speak English its understandable. In day two, I started my day by going to the breakfast and the breakfast was like a JUNGLE, no organizing, no one to welcome you, get your room number, attend you to your place. No I am not done, the food quality is really bad and since the breakfast area Is open, you can see all the mosquito's flying around the food and yes the jam, honey and most of other liquid stuff do have small ants in them so be careful before eating - even the mugs when you want to pour yourself coffee or tea do have ants too. Oh yes, one more thing as a 5 stars hotels, a standard is to provide coffee and tea once the guest comes in but yes let me finish. More incidents: 1- I did not get any towels since day 3 :S - I had to call the reception and they provided me with 3 large towels and that's it and I was surviving on them for remainder of my stay. 2- Housekeeping is so offing bad, just bad guys. Very poor cleaning. 3- In the day four I asked for the complementary bottles of water since 8am and I did not get them, I had to go and get it myself from the boxes they keep and that was around 12pm when I had enough from calling the reception + housekeeping + restaurant. 4- The pool in-front of the reception, is mostly unattended 5- Lack of showers 6- Day 2, I asked for two large pizza's, spaghetti and fries, it was raining that's why I ordered from the room service/ restaurant because it was raining heavily. When the food came, the pizza's were covered in the box, the spaghetti and fries were covered by nylon sheet. The fries was nylon was pocked so all the water and ants were inside when I received. I did not want to make a fuss and paid for it and when I informed the room service/restaurant, they started acting stupid and like they don't understand what I am saying. Haha Keep in mind that I stayed for 6 nights and in a suite and I paid more that BHT41K to get this uncomfortable experience, I was with my pregnant wife, daughter and parents. I am not looking for any sort of compensation or an apology from the person that will read or reply on this. Save it I do not need it. You guys are hoteliers you should know that when a guest comes he is looking to relax and enjoy and you guys definitely did not provide any of those. The only perk of the hotel was the view and that's it, I don't see anything special in it. -------------------------------- And just to add to this because I have to answer this below and without anyone seeing it. Do any of the staff at this hotel speak or provide service in English? Some yes, but most of them act stupid.
Excellent location and offers a comfortable stay with activities for all ages.
I stayed in Amari Phuket for 3 nights with my family ( kids aged 9 and 14). Overall, I had a great experience. I booked an Ocean facing family room ( two BR). The view from the room was good but not something that you can spend a whole day looking at. In the end the best view of the sea from the pool side. So ocean view is something that is good-to-have but not a must-have. Moreover, Thailand has lots of activities for the first time visitors. So you are likely to spend little time in the room. The hotel is close to a very happening market i.e. Patong beach market. Local tuk tuk style taxis are available for a nominal cost of 200 THB. The market has lots of restaurants and bars with a sea view. I haven't had much chance to try out a lot of them but everything looked nice. A road along the line splits into Patong street which is full of pubs. However that particular lane is not recommended with kids. On the other end of Patong street is Bangla market which is famous for street food. Probably a must visit for one time. The hotel offers two restaurants. Rim Talay and La-gritta. The first one offers Thai, international and Indian cuisine and the second one offers Italian. We tried all the cuisine and the food is sumptuous. Prices are a bit expensive but worth it. Both the restaurants have very courteous hosts. A meal for two adults and two kids will cost approximately $50. I visited the La-gritta bar which offers an excellent view of the sea. I had an interesting conversation with the bartender who was very courteous. They offer two sit out areas that are Samudra bar and Voyager. Both are sea facing. I believe any book reader, which I am not, will be happy to spend hours there. They also offers a kids room behind the voyager. So family with young kids can relax in the voyager. Well, I think the hotel can improve on the maintenance aspect. Towels were not upto the standards. The torch provided in the room was not working. Given the hotel is on the hill, you will always need their shuttle to reach to your room. They can improve the shuttle service a bit. Sometimes the waiting was a little annoying. But at the same time all this is worth the location they got.
