This perfect setting resort is one of the best ones in Thailand ,in the perfect location, nice architecture and beautiful decoration, perfect facilities and great variety of foods. Prices are quite high on high season period, it’s better go at about middle of the year then you’d get good prices.
More like 3 star hotel with 1 star customer service
I’m sure I will get a snarky response or that they have no record of me staying here. I’ll start off by saying the grounds are incredibly gorgeous and so are the two surrounding beaches. The hotel rooms are definitely nothing to be desired. They look rundown and like they need an update. For almost $1500/night (this is what it averaged out to), I’d expect the rooms to be amazing. When we arrived, we were told about the resort and where the restaurants, pool, and gym were. It’s a long journey getting to the hotel from chiang mai. We ended up getting a quick bite to eat at one of the three restaurants. The food was expensive and again not mind blowing. After we ate, we went back to the room with our smAll children to find that we had no hot water at 9:30pm. We were exhausted and just wanted to get cleaned up and go to bed. They offered us another room to take a shower in while they fixed the problem. We didn’t want to wait for the hour they estimated to fix the problem so we schlepped our stuff along with our two screaming/tired kids to another room to shower. Hardly what I was expecting at paying $1500/night. To make matters worse, management never addressed the issue or offered us anything. I had to go to the management office to complain. The manager basically offered me half off the kids dinners at the grotto after he had just got through the Telling me that one of my kids eats free and the other was half off. When he saw my disapproval, we ended up what felt like street haggling back and forth. He then offered me half off of one of the adult meals. We finally came to an agreement that the whole meal would be comped but he said “you pay for drinks”. I own a very high end rental and this has happened where a guest didn’t have hot water. It was fixed very quickly and we offered a free night stay. We don’t want bad press and when you are paying this much money, there is a certain expectation. They also have a minimum stay that I found out was only 5 nights through another guest that we made friends with. We paid for 6 nights and on the 4th night I found out that I screwed up and Was supposed to go back to Bangkok to fly home a day earlier than intended. So I had to rebook my flights and book a new hotel. This meant I had to skip the very expensive and mandatory gala dinner on New Year’s Eve. The gala that cost $750/per adult. The guy who helped us rebook our flights was very nice and I asked him if he would speak to the manager about at least refunding our gala dinner. I understand that it was my fault and I booked the wrong dates but I thought that the management would at least refund that dinner as a gesture of goodwill or just plain and simple good customer service. The manager didn’t even tell me himself. He had his employee tell us that it was basically too bad. I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. It’s a shame because the cost of a bad review is much more than just providing good customer service. I can not recommend this hotel
As a potential option in the future next Christmas we decided to have dinner one evening at the main restaurant. The setting and service was exceptional as you'd expect at a luxury resort, obviously we can only comment on this and not the other facilities which I am sure are great. We quickly left before our main meals arrived due to their being rats inside the building above our heads. I appreciate the location and this may be a one off but inside a resort that's charging probably on average over £500 a night and between £25-£60 for a main course I think it is unacceptable. Probably worth taking into consideration though...
There are no words...just wow!!
We stayed there for family holidays. We are back and yet we can’t stop thinking of the perfect villas/pavilions, amazing level of service and kindness of the staff. Good excursions and high level of flexibility in making individual arrangements. An incredibly relaxing holidays in a resort with polite attendance and quiet guests. One tip: the beaches are nice, but accessible by boat from people outside the resort. There is quite some traffic/noise during the day that could be disturbing, especially if your room is close to the beach.
Incredible resort at ao Nang
This hotel is amazing, we stayed 5 nights in the middle of our south Asia trip and won't regret, Spacious and comfortable room (Deluxe Pavilion), we had great sleep. The staff were really great, providing best service ever. The resort is beautiful and you can reach 3 beaches from the hotel, nature , monkeys and lizards on the way to the reception. Sunset in Groto Bar is a must go. Even in high season the hotel is not crowed an you can relax in the pool or on the beach chairs. Food was very good in breakfast and in the restaurants. I recommend boat trips near there, amazing places.
