Exemplary Beach Resort
Everything you could want in a beachfront villa - ocean views and easy proximity for sunrise swims, a bottle of wine thoughtfully left in the room with a local fruit platter (and identification card to boot!) plus we got to choose our own signature scent for the stay. Snorkelling was great and I loved our outing to the turtle sanctuary. I think this island can be a bit of a party spot, but this resort was a true sanctuary. I also so enjoyed the simple cooking class so I can now make Phad Thai at home.
Amazing in every way! Lots of thoughtful touches.
This is hands down the best place we have ever stayed at. Only positive and outstanding superlatives can describe our stay at the Paradee. From arrival at Bangkok Airport with our private transfer, boat transfer and arrival at the resort , where we were met by the staff (as welcoming party), given refreshments and provided with a peaceful and air-conditioned space in which to relax while our room was being prepared, it was clear that this hotel is in a different class. We immediately knew we were at a special place where every last detail has been thought about. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff are simply the best and most amazingly attentive staff. We were celebrating our 20 year anniversary and my wife's birthday and the staff prepared our the room with beautiful flowers on the bed, arranged both birthday and anniversary cakes - which were complimentary and simply amazing. My wife had hurt her back and the staff were simply amazing, always providing an extra pillow for her to sit on, and didn't even need to be asked. Our preferences were anticipated by the staff, who were always gentle, caring and professional. I would like to mention all the staff personally, but fear i would miss somebody out. Everybody we encountered at the Paradee made our stay special and I would like to thank the manager, Roy, Kik, and everybody else for making our stay so memorable. We stayed in a garden pool villa and it was literally a few steps back from the beach, but more private than the seaside villas (which are open at the front and other guests can look into your private space). The villa had every conceivable item provided and was extraordinarily comfortable. I truly didn't want to leave ever. We unfortunately had to cut our holiday short by one day, due to Corona, and the staff, Roy, in particular, were amazingly helpful and kind to us. Nothing was too much hassle for the staff and they treated us with a gentle compassion and kindness, even though they themselves, were having to manage in difficult and uncertain circumstances. We found the food to be amazing. The breakfast has every conceivable choice and option available. I tended to stick to continental breakfasts, while my wife, was more adventurous and tried all the local Thai and Asian breakfast options. She had a smile on her face every day!! She particularly liked the Won Tons!!! Most days we didn't need to eat lunch because breakfast was so vast and ample that it saw us through to tea time and icecream. We were mainly still too fill to indulge in the cut fruit selection that was also provided every afternoon. We ate a special meal on the beach and it was worth every penny. And again, the manager and waitering staff were superb. I ate some western food from the menu and it was good. The chefs are clearly very good and versatile in what they are able to prepare! We had a few drinks at the sunset bar, and again, found the staff to be amazing, and one night the sunset put on a spectacular show. We also found the snorkelling by the reef, just beneath the sunset bar to be quite good. We snorkeled there most days and saw a variety of fish (some of which we still don't know what they are) but here are some of the fish we saw, parrot fish, puffer fish, hermet crabs, grouper, wrasse, clams, some of them rather large too, anemomies and clown fish.....too many to know and list. However, one day we did have to swim through a swarm of jellyfish which was not pleasant, but they did move on with the tide. We didn't go out on a boat (however, lots of other guests did), but we still swim on both sides of the peninsular, and found the snorkelling best by the reef by the sunset bar. Given half the chance, we will be back again! Thank you, thank you, thank you is all we can say.
Holiday with that touch of something special.
You know you're in for something different and special from the moment your private speedboat transfer draws near the resort's landing stage. Lined up and waiting to greet you personally are members of the management team and their colleagues. The resort is small and intimate, the villas are well spaced throughout the exotic gardens. We had a Garden Pool Villa, the main room was split level and spacious, the lower level given over to a 'lounge' area, the upper containing a large and very comfortable bed. Adjacent to the bedroom was a large dressing/bathroom area containing wardrobe and storage space, a very big bath...allow yourself plenty of time to fill it if you intend to wallow in its luxury, :). There is also a large shower that is open to the elements whilst retaining privacy...you'll quickly get used to this quirkiness...though it might seem strange if it's raining at the time you shower, :)...there is also a separate WC. There is a reasonably private outside space, complete with plunge pool, seating areas and sunbathing lounger. The resort is situated at a 'pinch point' on the island, so actually has both East and West facing water frontages. The resort is split in two by a road that you have to cross between the accommodation side the landing stage area, but the road isn't busy, and there are security people to control what little traffic there was. The beach on the accommodation side (East) of the resort was like something from a 'Bounty' chocolate bar advert, a long arcing expanse of fine white sand that gently slopes down to the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. The water frontage of the West side is rockier, but is excellent for those that like to snorkel, the water being crystal clear and teaming with aquatic life. The area of the resort on the West side consisted mainly of the Sunset Bar, a very popular place in the late afternoon/early evening as aforementioned sunset occured. A conference facility...not used by holiday guests...and a small, but well equipped, gym. I used this facility twice a day and usually had it to myself, that was a treat as my experience is usually having to share equipment with other guests. The choice of food in the restaurant at breakfast time was excellent, with the usual choices of Local, British and Continental goodies to choose from. In the evening you can dine in the restaurant, or on the beach, the latter option being very popular with many of the guests. All of the staff that we interacted with were attentive...without being overbearing, and friendly...always ensuring one's every, reasonable, request was met. The General Manager, Mr Hantrakarnpong, would try to speak with as many of the guests as possible each day. And on the few occasions where we required something a bit different done, he and his colleagues went out of their way to make things happen. I would also like to mention a couple of Mr Hantrakarnpong's colleagues who helped make our stay that little bit more special: Navin, our housekeeper, for keeping our villa clean and tidy, for keeping the fridge stocked with the essential tonic water to go with the gin, and for keeping us smiling with her sense of humour. Marlon, the Sunset Bar's main man and Paradee fishing king, for keeping us topped up with G&Ts and Singha beer, and for making us laugh whilst trying to get his own back for my making him jump when he hadn't noticed me walk into the bar. And Kitstin, one of the restaurant staff, for getting my Tom Yum soup spicy enough, and for sneaking us an extra dish of the excellent peanut sauce whenever we had satay. Thank you to them and all of the staff of the Paradee for making this holiday different and special from the moment we arrived, till the moment we departed this little bit of island paradise. We felt sad as we waved our farewells to those members of the management team and their colleagues who came to see us off. I would definitely return, and I would definitely recommend the resort to anyone seeking a relaxing retreat with that little bit of something special. P.S. The only downside to the whole holiday for me, and this is nothing to do with the the staff or the resort, is the that on the last two nights of our time there we had to put up with some horrible french people, but as I've never liked the french, and as we're now happily distancing ourselves from them...huzzah for Brexit...it was an annoyance I could tolerate.
Excellent yet again
From reaching Janet pier and being greeted to being assisted back there at 5.15 in the morning, everything was wonderful. Staff are uniformly superb. Always happy to make sure we were having a good time. No masks despite Coronavirus. Exceptional service. We were even found another room last minute when Bangkok airport hotel for the night did not seem such a good idea. We have loved it every time we have been. Relaxation perfection.
As a couple we recently stayed here for two weeks. The transfer from Jadet Pier to the island was seamless with a most exhilarating speedboat ride. We can thoroughly recommend villa 101 with private pool, for some of the best views of the whole resort and for it’s seclusion. Everywhere was beautifully clean and well maintained, from the rooms,to the restaurant,to the beach and the grounds. The staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with great variety, however the only reason we felt we couldn’t give a five star review was because of the food in general, some of the dishes were very good but some of them were not up to the standard you would expect of a five star hotel. A lovely feature was the afternoon tea served at our villa each day. The beach is kept absolutely pristine and the sea is great for swimming and water sports. Overall we had a very enjoyable holiday.
