Another wonderful holiday
It is difficult to find new things to say about our ‘home’ in Ko Lanta. Let’s start from the beginning as if you had no information regarding the hotel. Situated in the west coast of Ko Lanta on a beautiful, well kept beach. It is about a 90 minute trip from Krabi Airport including a ferry service which can be quick (mid week) or very slow at weekends, but that is part of the charm of the hotel’s location. During the high season the hotel ensures you avoid the ferry by meeting you and delivering you by speed boat to and from the beach. It is an adults only resort which means peace and tranquility in all the public areas and more especially the pools, bars and restaurant. There are daily activities and excursions although in truth we were happy to just relax. Fishing, island hopping, sunset cruises, cycling, yoga, swimming in the two fabulous pools and a host of other activities including one of the best spas in this part of the world gives you many options if you are of an active disposition. We just sat on our loungers, read books and relaxed. The Sunset bar was a place to meet with a happy hour or two. Buy one and get one free between 5-7pm along with free freshly cooked popcorn with a host of shakes from Tom Yam to Herb Salt. SeaSky restaurant was a joy. The food designed, prepared and cooked by Executive Chef Patrick and his team was stunning. Nothing was too much trouble, the menu was extensive but Patrick was still happy to prepare and cook whatever you wanted provided that it was available in the market. Sometimes a 24 hour notice was required for dishes like soft shell crab and tiger prawns bigger than lobsters! Not a word of exaggeration. There is no point in cooking wonderful food if it is not served by an excellent restaurant staff. Khun Kung has been responsible for the smooth running of the bar and the restaurant for many years. She leads by example, the service is friendly and efficient and everything you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The rooms are spotlessly clean, I don’t think that out of nearly 2000 reviews anyone has ever criticised the standards of cleanliness at the hotel. The housekeeping team are great., thank you Khun Pat and your wonderful team. Our relaxing stay would not have been possible without the attentions of the ‘pool attendants team’. No ship can run without a good Captain and no hotel runs well without a good General Manager. Ansgar is that GM. He has made changes that have complimented the hotel, he has quite rightly concentrated on improving the areas which benefit all the guests, the Sundowner bar and the SeaSky restaurant. I cannot complete a review without mentioning the lovely Khun Nathaya, ever present and happy to ensure that every guest is well cared for. There is so much more I could write about things to do and things to see. The real test is, would we return? The answer is of course we will and our reservation is already confirmed for next year. Thank you everyone for a fabulous two weeks in paradise.
Beautiful property, polite service
If looking for a place in Koh Lanta, this is perfect. No complains - excellently maintained property, clean and managed rooms, super polite service. Just one suggestion - have some vegetarian options on the menu.
We stayed at Layana for our honeymoon and thought it was excellent. Nice food, great facilities and lovely staff (there were so many examples of the last point - I wish I could list each example). Great for a retreat, although no entertainment in the evenings. We walked along Longbeach which backs onto the hotel or into the town at the other side end of the hotel to find this. The service was close to perfect. The only thing I wished we had more of was English breakfast teabags in the room. We could get these easily on request and for free but they weren't on the inventory for the room. Same thing at breakfast, there was only one English breakfast teabag although we sat as a couple each day. There was lots of Earl Grey although I've never met anyone who actually drinks this! Thank you for a great stay
Our stay at Layana
We had an excellent experience at the Layana Resort. One of the reasons for visiting Thailand was our wedding anniversary and the hotel staff, who were informed about this, managed an impressive welcome by extensively decorating the room with flowers, fruits, sweets and other expressions of congratulations. The restaurant can also be recommended. Special thanks to David, Ms. Poyenti and all other staff members involved in making our stay memorable. We will certainly try to come again!
From the moment you arrive the exceptional customer service and views wow you! Greeted with a cold towel, herbal tea, fruit, and flower necklace! They escort you to your room (we stayed in the garden view). The room was beautiful! 49 sq meters. They anticipate so many needs for you before you know you need them! They give you a different fruit in your room every day. There are sprays for your pillow, bath salts and loofa for the bath tub. Robes and slippers for the room and shoes to wear around the resort. You have lots of security roaming the property and beach so you feel very safe. All of the staff set the bar for customer service! We can't say enough nice things about them. The food was just amazing as well. Especially the breakfast buffet! They make their own gluten free bread and it tasted delicious. They have special jams that will wow you! Different juice selections every day! I was so excited everyday to eat there that I would set my alarm to make sure I didn't miss it! We definitely gained too much weight there since I wanted to try everything! Since it was low season there were not too many people there and it was heaven. At one point I had the 1/2 size Olympic pool to my self! We are already planning to stay there next year for 2 weeks! The prettiest sunsets we had ever seen!
