Birthday celebrations in the perfect villa
We looked for a quiet, special and pampering place to celebrate our birthdays, we wanted a wonderful villa with a private pool, and we found the perfect one 🥰 The reception welcomed us so kindly, and after check-in we were driven in a golf car to our villa. The villa is so big and beautiful! We loved the amazing design! The villa has kitchenette, living room, walk-in closet, huge bathroom with crazy bath, 2 amazing sinks, shower and toilet, and a spectacularly beautiful bedroom that faces directly onto the private pool 😍 While watching the view, we were disappointed to find out that there were two days of school competitions in front of our private pool, right on our birthdays! Which ruined our experience .. Later in our trip, we had to return to the hotel for a standard room, and when the hotel manager heard we were due to return, he apologized from the bottom of his heart for the school disruption, explaining that they host them because it’s off season, and also upgraded our next room to a private pool suit. The private pool suit was amazing and spacious, with a bedroom, living room, beautiful bathroom (but smaller than the previous villa) and a stunning private pool! ❤️ For those who want a private pool and don’t know which room they should take, if the difference between the suit and the villa is not so big, I would take the villa. It is more quite, spacious and the pool is a little bigger. But if the prices gap is really big, the private pool suit is completely excellent value for money solution😊 If you don’t take a private pool, there are amazing pools in the hotel itself, and there is a pool bar in one of them! In addition, the hotel is surrounded by amazing nature, up to the banks of a river that flows into the sea 🌊 The access to the beach is via a bridge they added just above the river. The place is so natural that on the way to the beach we even saw an elephant! The view of the beach is so stunning with Hugh rocks 🏝 The hotel has a spa, a great gym, a kids club, a library, 2 bars and 2 restaurants. We ate at the 2 restaurants and both are very delicious ! We really enjoyed the breakfast, the eggs and coffee are served to the table and in addition there is a great buffet 🥐🧀 For extra fee, you can order floating breakfast to your private pool. We ordered the floating breakfast for our birthday morning, the food was delicious but we ate the food while it wasn’t so hot because of the pictures we took. The hotel is quite far from the center, so they offer shuttle services 3 times a day to Bang Niang (a big and really nice market) and to the Khao Lak center (restaurants, tours agencies and cute shops) we used them and really enjoyed! 🚌 In conclusion, the hotel has a great location, quite new and amazingly designed! The hotel is not cheap but if you look for a stunning resort, this is absolutely the place! There is a wide range of rooms and they are all beautiful, totally recommend 🥰
Beautiful resort in Khao Lak area, well-maintained property. There is a nice river flowing through the resort, the beach is within walkable distance. friendly staff. good selection for breakfast but they can improve on the selection of vegetarian food both at breakfast and in restaurants.
Lovely stay at Kalima
We stayed at the property at the end of March 2020 just prior to the resort closing. I’ll start off by saying the hotel was clean, and hand sanitiser was readily available throughout the property. We stayed in a room with a private plunge pool. Room was lovely and spacious and had plenty of storage. The pool area was relatively small, but we managed to get a bed. I would mention that the design off the pool seemed quite dangerous, it was hard to see the walls sticking out whilst swimming. The main thing that stood out at the hotel was the food. The best food I’ve even had within a hotel! Plenty to choose from and full of flavours. We tried a variety of food on the menu, from burgers to local Thai cuisine and never had a bad meal. Staff throughout the hotel are friendly, with the exception of the man at the swim up pool bar who seemed to give everyone a frosty reception. All in all we had a lovely stay at this hotel, and hope to stay again in the future.
Good but could be better
My friends bought hotel voucher for since last year. The price is more expensive than room rate hotel is offering now. When I arrived at hotel. I parked my car at car park opposite hotel. Carried luggages and all stuffs ourselves. Front desk was empty. No assistances from any staff. I had to wait for a while to see front desk staff showed up. During this Covid19 situation, understood that only few staff working. I saw only 2 receptionist. 1 is who did check in for us and another one was just back with buggy. Receptionist drove us to room by buggy. Room (pool access) was spacious and everything still look new. No welcome fruit in room. Fruit basket was empty. Only few items of mini bar in room but mini bar list was not revised. I can see minor defect in bathroom. Bath tub cover was loosing. A bit mold grouting. You should have door closer for bathroom sliding door. I keep hearing crashing sound from neighbor room. Quite annoying. There was bed decoration for my wedding anniversary stay and when I was back from outside at night, there was cake in fridge. Thanks for that. Gym opened but no staff during my stay. No need to sign any disclaimer form. I turned on light and AC myself. Fountain at Kid pool was not turned on on my first day. I saw it on on second day. 1 Restaurant was closed. Only beach front restaurant was available for all day dining. My first breakfast was a la carte buffet. No staff offered any drinks. Only 3 tables with 3-4 staffs I thought service could be better. It was not busy at all staff should pay more attention on service. As I experienced some 4-5 stars service, I knew that we could ask for coffee or juice. I ordered coffee, cappuccino, latte and orange juice ( it was not fresh, it was concentrated juice). Water was asked to be served twice until I got it. Some pastry was served chocolate croissant, danish and white bread with butter and strawberry jam. My husband asked for marmalade but it was not available. Then he asked for plain croissant and it was so frustrate to get it. Staff kept serving us chocolate croissant! We returned it third time till we finally got a plain croissant. Next day breakfast was mini buffet. There were salad, bread, pastry, egg station, rice, boiled rice, fried chicken with curry, sausage(very low quality), bacon, cereal, concentrated juice, milk, 2kind of jams, nutella. Coffee and tea pots were in front of bar counter and you had to take care of yourselves. We did not drink it so we ordered cappuccino instead. Not sure this was service standard for cost saving or not to not offer coffee to guests. You can save your cost but not lower guest service. For me a la carte buffet on first day was much better than mini buffet. We also visited Tin bar. Drinks was good. And when we entered there no staff. We walked around there inside and finally staff showed up. 1 recreation staff. He just help you to get in kayak. Did not give you info about kayak routing. Did not prompt guest to sign disclaimer form. He was too busy to handle all guests but he was friendly anyway. Overall good stay but service could be better.
every thing good but the end
every thing is great. the rooms are spacious and modern and well though out. breakfast good and ample choice. grounds are laid out great. could have a little better lighting for walking in the dark as it is a bit dark in spots. staff are the shining stars and real gem to this place. friendly helpful in every way. check out was dismal. 1 staff and phones ringing off the hook and despite being explained numerous times at check in by numerous staff and verifying in the restaurant the 10% discount on food was not applied and the front desk staff knew nothing about it. would stay again.
