Lovely & Relaxing
The hotel is in a really quiet location which was just what we wanted. Unlike Krabi, Hua Hin etc, there is a wide shallow sea shelf which seems to go out for about a mile, so no boats can get in to the beach. No engine noise, no fumes, no hawkers - bliss! The peace and quiet of the beach reminded us of the Maldives. We stayed in one of the Coco Chalets, number 113, which was lovely - in the corner, very spacious and slightly shaded. I agree with other reviewers - the reserving of sun beds at 6.30am is ludicrous. I really hate to say this because I was born in Germany, lived there for 16 years, and love the country but, once again, it really was the Germans who were putting towels on the beds at dawn. I’ve visited Thailand numerous times, stayed in all sorts of hotels across the country, and it is a perennial problem. The Thai staff are just too nice and non-confrontational to challenge this type of behaviour. One way round it would be to say that, although the pool is available to all hotel guests, the sun beds are for those in the Coco Chalets (guests in the Ravenala rooms already have their own loungers on their verandas/terraces overlooking their own pool, and there are lots of sun beds on the beach tooand to label them, 2 per chalet, with the chalet number. The pool itself is glorious - large, warm, excellent infinity-style view down to the sea, and not too much chlorine. It also has 2 built in spa areas with jets. Surprisingly, there doesn’t appear to be any pool-side service. We were there for a week and never saw anyone going round with menus taking drink/nibbles orders. Note to the manager - you would sell a lot more if you did this, and offered 2 for 1 between 11am & 2pm. The restaurant is on the beach and is very good quality. It is, however, expensive. It is never more than 40% full because, right next door, not 30 seconds walk across the sand, is an on-beach restaurant serving delicious food and drinks for half the price!! We lunched there every day and had supper there three times. The spa was very disappointing. Next to no privacy and staff who chatted and giggled endlessly to each other throughout our fairly mediocre massages - not very relaxing. We had booked 1 hour treatments but were both in and out with 45 minutes. After that, we went to ‘Be Friend’ massages, which is 30 seconds from the spa on the other side of the hedge and infinitely better. Would we go back to Bangsak Village? Yes - the setting is beautiful, the staff are lovely, the atmosphere is very relaxing. But with a few minor changes, it could be even better.
Visited for a wonderful sunset dinner..
My husband and I had stayed at Bangsak Village a few years ago, so when we were visiting Khao Lak recently, we decided to have dinner here for old times sake. The whole experience was truly wonderful ( I was sure to mention this on my blog nadiadoestravel.com ) The setting was very romantic, right on the beach watching the sunset as we were served delicious seafood. Be sure to stay here or just visit for a memorable meal, you won't be disappointed.

A very pleasant and tranquil hotel set in well maintained and typical gardens. The staff are very friendly and do their best to please. The main pool area is well kept and looks out over the great beach. The room we had was well equipped with amenities and generous in size with the separate lounge area. The only things I can pick at are that the walls in the room, could have done with some paint in some small areas and the wifi was temperamental, but hey its Thailand and that can be excused. Overall, we had a super stay and would happily return to the peace that is Bangsak village.
Great but understand the “rules”
This is a great resort, but has a very high percentage of European guests who seem to return each year. This isn’t a problem except for the 6:30am or earlier pool lounge reservations. Certain people want their spots and as soon as people start to place towels on lounges the rooms near the pool start to do the same. We found that the beds o;the beach in he shade were better and less concern. However, even there beds are reserved at sunrise. I’ve never seen these large plastic pegs that people have brought to clip their towel to the lounge, but these are seasoned pro’s. In truth there are enough longes for everyone who wants one, but surprised to observe lounges reserved and no one use them until after lunch, which shows a degree of meanness. But pool is great, rooms really nice with great aircon, the beach beautiful and we hope to return. Just a shame that at most times more longes are reserved than are being actively used.
