We were one of the few and early groups to use their event space post-covid. Nice views by the river with good business facilities. Good service also, expectedly. One of the perks is to have dinner at benihana afterwards
Very Nice Modern Hotel
Stayed 3 nights at the end of February to start our tour of Thailand and Indo China. After a warm welcome we were given a nice compact River View Room as booked on the 11th floor with all the expected amenities and view over the river. We had a great view over the Anantara Riverside hotel and the adjacent grounds which were being set up for the imminent Bangkok Elephant Boat Race. The hotel was in a great location with the free ferry shuttles to Central and then Asiatique with all its shops and restaurants. Fabulous roof top pool, bar and restaurant with prices to match. However the commercial centre on the 3 bottom floors had shops and restaurants for every taste, a Boots the Chemist, money exchange and 7/11 for all your needs.Only negative was noisy guests in the hotel on our last night who had arrived for the Boat Race but wanted to party until 3.00 in the morning. No point in complaining as we had a very early start and all credit to the hotel who provided an excellent breakfast box. Probably will not rush back to Bangkok but would stay here if we did.
The taxi dropped us at the hotel across from the Avani,so after accepting the hospitality drinks at the Ananatara we were told you are at the wrong hotel!!! Booking in at the Avani was a totally different vibe, different style from the luxury riverside neighbour. Staff are friendly and efficient, river views outstanding. Our room was compact, riverside and so lovely sunrises. Dining experience was enjoyable, shopaholics take note that hotel is attached to a medium sized mall . River journeys on Annantara taxi boat were enjoyable and link up with BTS ,so city is easily accessible. We enjoyed our stay very much.
So on my last night in Thailand, I wanted to stay at a hotel brand I never heard of or booked before. We stayed at this hotel on March 11th which was my birthday and checked out march 12th. Since we had a very early flight which left Bangkok at 710am, we didn't get to experience the hotel like we wanted to. But we did walk around the hotel to see what they offered. The gym was great along with the rooftop pool, which both had great views of the city and river. I would stay at this hotel again if I were to ever go back to Thailand. The only thing I did not like about this hotel was, I booked two rooms with river views. They supposedly told me that they upgraded our rooms to the river view and on higher floors. I didn't see an upgrade to my room but my friend had an upgrade which I was happy for him but I'm the one who paid for the rooms and it was my birthday. The upgraded room just had hardwood flooring and a larger tv. I prepaid the rooms in advance and people bailed on me. On every trip I take, I invite friends with me and tell them I will pay for their room but they have to pay for their own plane tickets, food, and tours. So when people bail, I could have saved money and got one room instead of two. Since I prepaid it, I didn't even want to go through the argument with the hotels trying to get a refund, especially on my birthday, so I just took the loss.
Having stayed several times in the centre of Bangkok we decided to try a different location. Whilst the views are spectacular and the hotel itself bright, modern and clean it lacked soul. We felt like we attending a business meeting. The room was great, a club suite on a corner but club itself was very poor value and not in any way exclusive. Breakfast was unspectacular and a bun fight. Not for us and next time we go to Bangkok we shall go back to the centre where the service and attention to detail is second nature.
