If you’re searching for a tropical beach paradise, come to Gold Zanzibar Beach House and Spa. We’re set on Kendwa Beach, a tideless stretch of powdery white sand where guests can enjoy a 24/7 beach experience. You can spend your days swimming or snorkelling in the Indian Ocean, take a boat trip or just lie back under a thatched cabana. The reef here is beautiful, even better than the Maldives in my opinion, with unspoilt, colourful coral and the clearest water you can imagine.

The beach-front resort is set in large, exotic gardens with a pool, so even when we’re full there are plenty of secluded spots to enjoy. When it comes to design, the idea was to combine Zanzibar’s Africana and Arabic roots with a European flare, since we’re an Italian, family-run company. You can choose from a variety of accommodation, the most lavish are the garden villas with private pools. Our views are a highlight, we face west so at 5pm everyone goes to the beach to watch the sunset – it’s a postcard-perfect view of the blazing orange sun dropping into the sea.

Many guests come to Zanzibar for rest and relaxation after a safari adventure in Tanzania, so they spend lots of time lounging by the pool or on the beach. We also have wellness facilities like a spa, gym and volleyball court. If you’re feeling more active though, we can arrange watersports and boat trips or excursions around the island. You can make your holiday as peaceful or action-packed as you’d like – we’re focused on providing a tailored experience for each guest.

Being Italian, we’re particularly passionate about food, so you’ll enjoy top-quality local and international cuisine at Gold Zanzibar. We have two restaurants, one buffet and one à la carte. Both are award-winning and very popular with guests; last year our chef was awarded the Best Corporate Chef in Zanzibar and two years ago we claimed the title of Best Beach Restaurant in Zanzibar. In the evenings, there’s live music and we put on a range of theme nights, shows and cultural performances.

Aside from the food, guests tell us that they love our stunning beach location and typically warm, smiley Zanzibar staff. Many come from the island and we’re keen to provide opportunities for local people. We like to work with the community and have set up the Sofia Luna Azzola Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to improve the lives of people who live in Kendwa Village. So far, we’ve been able to build a primary school and guarantee teachers’ wages, as well as uniforms and materials for its 200 pupils.
