What a fun place to stay!
The lodges were so unique! Like hobbit homes though I found out later during our tour of the Gorge that these were modeled after the Hoda huts in the region. Lovely rooms - great views - super bathrooms and the staff/service/gift store were perfect. We ate on the patio and had super buffet meals every night. Recommend their calamari ! And the picked mangos - must get a recipe! All around great place !
OH MY WORD! LOVED THIS LODGE!
What is not to love? You are right in the Serengeti National Park when you stay at this property. The architecture is stunning in so many ways. Look at the ceilings! Look at the art! Look at the rooms! The view of the Serengeti from my room must have been the best in the entire place! I couldn't believe how far I could see when standing on my deck. Julius, at the front desk, was wonderful. He was kind and interested in his guests. His main goal was to make sure the guest enjoyed their visit. We stayed her 3 nights while on a Lion World Tour. The food was delicious, the staff was attentive, the grounds were lovely, and the pool looked refreshing. I did have time to spend a couple hours by the pool, but it really wasn't warm enough for me to take a dip. Maybe next time. Staying in lodging located right in the middle of the Serengeti makes the day game visits incredibly memorable and easily reachable. If I ever make it back to Tanzania and this national park, I would gladly stay at this lodge again. In the dining area, Pius and Jackson and so many others made sure we had an enjoyable dining experience at every single meal. Thank you! Thank you to everyone at Serengti Serena Safari Lodge. You made this trip even more incredible. Your lodge exceeded my expectations in every way. Even the wifi was surprisingly fast. Hope to see you all again in the future.
A Unique Serengeti Experience
I stayed at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge mid July of 2021 and it was an excellent experience. The manager Jon was very welcoming when we checked in and made sure to explain all of the important hotel information to us up front, which we appreciated. A guard walked us to and from our room every night due to the amazing setup of the hotel where wildlife are free to walk the property. It was authentic, yet safely implemented. The architecture of the rooms was beautiful and the inside of the rooms was clean and good quality. One of the restaurant managers, Pius, was very friendly and learned our names very quickly. He was welcoming, accommodating, and overall contributed to a great customer service experience. The other members of the dining experience were also very nice and helpful. The food was of high quality as well. We loved the scenery at the hotel (especially at the pool) and it was very unique to be able to stay on a hill in the Serengeti. Overall, an excellent experience to be had at this hotel.
After a long Serengeti safari we stayed here for night 2. Night one was at the Retreat at Nrogorogoro (sp?) highly recommended. Rooms - smallish but neat and generally clean. Bathroom towels are rough and tattered. Shower is hard water and not calming. Positives are the water is nice and hot. Bathroom was decently cleaned. Bed is very hard and linens are rough. Mosquito net has some holes. Overall cutely appointed. Food - just had dinner so far - we have breakfast in the morning. Buffet style or you can be served at your table. Ambiance is nice - indoor/outdoor. Food is above average not great. Bar is ok, good ambience and ok selection. Hospitality - very good. Everyone is kind and says hello and asks if you need anything. I would probably ask our travel company - Roy Safaris - to upgrade this night if I could do it again. Nothing horrible just would want a step up - after going to the Retreat the first night, this was a bit disappointing.
Excellent one of my favourite in Serengeti.
From arrival to exit the staff are very friendly & welcoming . We stayed here two nights. They will go extra miles to fulfill any requests . Dinner & breakfast buffet variety so vast , still The Chef would persionally visit our table to check if we require anything to suit kids & will be delivered in no time . The lunch box was carefully planned ( through a given list but we had the liberty to ask for more ) with the Chef & it was delicious . Kids loved an afternoon off in the swimming pool which is large & the deck overlooks the plains below . Overall have stayed here several times & do look forward to visit again . After all the positivity I decided to give 4 stars / points only . Tanzanian culture is to use water after using the wash room during each visit the need to affix wash pipes is stressed but it's not done to date . I hope this will be sorted before our next visit . Lastly changing the small shower heads to larger ones will give a better shower with a wider water fall .
