WOW! What a wonderful resort.
We stayed at the Ngoro Manor for three wonderful nights in August 2021. After a quick checkin in the office, we were guided down a garden path to the manor’s main building where the restaurant and bar were located. Truly a lovely space. Shariff (spelling?), our valet, then we walked on to our cottage. We had a sitting area separated from the bedroom by a two sided fireplace. Beyond the bedroom was a large bathroom that included a claw foot tub. Our first meal at the resort was a delicious lunch on the terrace before we journeyed to the crater. Upon our return we found our tub filled with hot water and bubbles topped with artistically arranged flower petals. There were also snacks to tide us over until dinner. While we ate, the staff started a fire in our fireplace which we enjoyed watching from our cozy bed (warmed by hot water bottles). Meals were all wonderful, especially a native tasting menu dinner. They also packed picnic lunches for our two all day outings to the crater. The only negative was the half hour journey to the crater, followed by nearly an hour to go up then down the crater rim.
My husband and I stayed here 3 night during our honeymoon. The Manor is beautiful, serene, and relaxing! It was a great home base to return to after a long day of game drives. Each day, we returned to find a bath already drawn and snacks prepared in our room. We also enjoyed onsite activities like horseback riding and a coffee tour/tasting. The entire staff was excellent, especially our butler Peter. He arranged for us to enjoy private fireside meals, and even prepared juice for us with local fruits we purchased at a local market. He took great care of us and made us feel at home there. This place exceeded our expectations and we hope to return someday soon!
What a beautiful estate
Initially, we felt a little unsure about staying at the Manor because our stay felt in the middle of safari parks and we were worried it may take us away from the natural feel. But we were wrong. The Manor is a stunning estate sitting on a hill in the Ngorongoro heights. Driving up to the Manor is a treat itself as you drive through the thick rusty red dust up the hill, between endless coffee plantations. Arrived at the Manor, we were greeted in "Elewana fashion": all smiles, a refreshing cold towel to clean off some dust and a delicious cold drink. Thr rooms at the Manor are huge and are split in two levels by 3 steps. Each room offers an indoor fireplace as well as an outdoor fire place, a bathtub, a huge showe, a super comfortable bed, and a nice terrasse with view on the coffee plantations. The highlight of the Manor though is their garden. It's breathtaking, so green, so lush and immaculately maintained. If you are feeling a little sore from the "safari massage", please treat yourself with a massage. Thr ladies at the spa did a fabulous job in losing each stiffness we've may had in our back/neck. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional at the Manor. Dinner was (if I remember well) a 5 course dinner and breakfast was à la carte. What we've cherished most at the Manor though was the staff. They have been just wonderful. So warm, welcoming and positive hearted. Margaret took the time to chitchat with us and we very much enjoyed our conversations with good laughs. Margaret, if you read this: please say "hi" to Justin :-) When stopping at the Manor while doing a safari, don't worry about it being "too different". Yes, the Manor is no safari lodge, and yet you'll thoroughly enjoy your time there and feel pampared from the first to the last second of your stay.
Wow - we were truly impressed with this lodge. The manor is very comfortable with beautiful landscaping, the food is delicious, and the service is exceptional. The staff are truly thoughtful and it felt like they went above and beyond for us. This location is close to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro. We stayed here during a 15 day Safari arranged by Elewana that was really special - we visited 5 of their properties in Tanzania. Each property really has its own personality. Our Elewana guide for 9 days, Peter, was fantastic, and John and Rogers at The Manor really went out of their way for us.
5-Star Luxury...Elegant and Outstanding Staff
Wow...5-star wow! The Manor was sensational in all respects...beautiful, stunning resort (with an old-school colonial feel) the kindest, friendliest, English speaking, professional, helpful staff ever! We (a family of five, with three teenage kids) visited The Manor for two nights in August 2021, at the middle of our 10-day safari in Tanzania, while visiting Ngorongoro. Our experience was truly amazing in every way: outstanding service, professionalism and kindness of all staff, great food quality (all inclusive), the "room" is actually a private house/villa and was gorgeous, with an incredible outdoor deck, spacious living, fireplaces and all around gorgeous. Everything about the property was top-notch, 5-stars. We loved using the stable there and riding horses around the coffee plantation, as well as playing billiards and croquet while sipping cocktails...great fun! 5-star awesomeness all around...The Manor is outstanding...worth a visit! We will eagerly return!
