Very Good AI Hotel With Amazing Staff...
This was our second visit to Rendezvous in 12 months, we were here for 6 days for the England cricket tour last February and liked it so much we decided to return for 12 nights. We stayed in a beach front room last time but actually preferred our Verandah Suite next to the gym this visit as it seemed a little plusher generally and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The positioning of our room (124) meant that it never saw the sun and that also suited us because for the first time ever in a hot country holiday we didn’t use the air conditioning for the vast majority of our stay. It’s been said before but it’s absolutely true that the staff here make the hotel, the grounds are lovely and the food is decent to excellent but the thing that really makes you smile is the interaction with the lovely people working here. We’re really not usually ones for hotel’s evening entertainment but we were surprised to find ourselves staying in the main bar most nights to listen to some very decent bands with a special mention for the 25 piece police brass band who were absolutely excellent. We won’t come back but that’s merely because we’re not fans of all inclusive holidays, preferring to get out and find different restaurants and bars. Having said that, we loved our daily Bloody Mary’s at midday at the pool bar and were grateful for the fresh fruit, cocktails and iced water regularly brought to the beach and pools without request. I do have a few constructive points to make, mostly small things that I think need to be checked out but by no means deal breakers :- MEAL BOOKINGS It was difficult to get bookings in the two bookable restaurants at times. I was particularly put out by the fact that we couldn’t get what we wanted for the end of our holiday as reservations had been made/taken for guests that hadn’t even arrived. I really believe another restaurant is needed or at least a better and fairer system for booking. TERRACE RESTAURANT FOOD The one restaurant that you didn’t need to book was the Terrace Restaurant that I believe needs to be improved a little as it doesn’t reach the levels of either Trysting Place or Malabar Beach. BEACH BEDS CLAIMED EARLY We couldn’t get a sun-bed in front of the pool for the first 5 days we were there as a whole plane load of TUI travellers were getting there very early and putting their towels down. This is something the hotel claim they won’t allow but we saw beds empty for at least two hours after being claimed for the day. Things did improve once the group left and I appreciate that it’s difficult to police. POOL CLEANLINESS Pools should be cleaned more frequently, although that did seem to improve a little in our second week. Other hotels we’ve stayed at have had flies (hardly any here) and leaves removed during the day as well as first thing. Wi-Fi VERY POOR This is the big one for me. The WiFi in the room - well ours anyway - was superb but by the pool or on the beach it drifts in and out with a poor signal at best and is very frustrating. This would actually stop me visiting a hotel, we came to relax but still needed access for personal reasons. MOSQUITO CONTROL Both my wife and I were bitten quite badly, we only saw the grounds being fogged twice while we were there but have had daily fogging at other Caribbean hotels. Having said this, we spoke to many other guests and some hadn’t been bitten at all while some had. Maybe it was our room.? All in all this is a great hotel and this is backed up by the fact that there’s a lot of returners, we actually met a few that remembered us from last year and are going back again next year. There’s lots to do, free watersports, tours, walks, yoga, tennis, keep fit - the list really does go on and on. Be aware though that the average age here is probably around 60, it’s very quiet and there’s no music around the pools or beach so bear that in mind if that’s your thing. Lastly, special mentions for service above and beyond from us for Jojo, Guilford, Tasha, Joachim, Glen, Onika, Chantelle, Benson, Veronica - the best omelette maker in the world and the chef who made us rotis at Malabar (Shahlil.?). Apologies for those who’s names I can’t recall but you’re all a credit to the hotel.
Our 4th visit in 6 years - and the best. Generally very relaxed atmosphere, but the staff are totally on the ball. First time we've coincided with the St Lucia Police Band - fantastic! Thoroughly enjoyed all food, drink and facilities. Only negative - please get the tennis court(s) back up to a good standard - and give the hapless Mario a decent budget for balls!
Romantic Vacation of a Lifetime
It has been a year since we visited, but after a different all inclusive experience in another country it made us want to write and review how much we appreciated Rendezvous even more by comparison. It was truly the most relaxing trip - with the best service we've ever received. The best food at an all inclusive as well and great drinks. We especially miss the nightly Champagne Room happy hour! The only downside of this property is that it is not the easiest to get to - both from the number of flight options from the US and the somewhat harrowing drive to get to the resort from the airport. There is a local airport right next to the Rendezvous which apparently services inner-island flights. Our next trip to St Lucia might be via a larger island first and then flying directly to Castries. Our favorite staff members were Glenn, Cassie, Jamonet, Carmen, Matilda, Henry, Boy Blue, Shane, Cherriefour, and Veronika. We hope they are all doing great - we miss them and need to plan our return trip soon!
Restful and relaxing stay in this beautiful resort. The location is perfect and the staff so friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel are well cared for and the beach idyllic. We loved every minute and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Be prepared to be pampered, very well fed and watered! If we ever return to St Lucia, we would certainly stay here again.
A relaxing stay
This hotel is the ideal location for a relaxing holiday. The room we had was a veranda room & it was very spacious. The bed was large & very comfortable. The shower was good & the facility’s were brilliant. Plenty of storage for clothes & a great safe. All the rooms are close to the centre of the complex. The main pool was great & towels provided. The spa pool was also great & both very clean & well looked after. There were plenty of sun beds but there was still issues with people saving sun beds early in the morning at the main pool. The staff are so polite & really get to know you. They are a credit to the hotel. Natasha the pool bar attendant was absolutely brilliant. The food was lovely & plenty of it. The two restaurants attached to the hotel were also good & worth visiting a few times. There was plenty of sports available if you wanted to do any of them & again the staff were second to none. This hotel provides complete relaxation & I would definitely recommend this to others. We will return in the future.
