Centauria Wild

A small hotel with a big personality

Nature lovers and families will appreciate this comfortable hotel in breathtaking countryside near Udawalawe National Park.

The canopied entrance with steps leading up to a high-ceilinged lobby is certainly impressive, and the welcome ceremony – with new arrivals lighting a traditional oil lamp and feeding the koi carp in the pond – will stay in the memory for a long time. Nature, however, is not to be outdone here, and it’s hard to argue with the hotel’s claim of having the “best view in Udawalawe”. There’s unspoiled countryside everywhere you look – as in tree-carpeted rolling hills and a vast sparkling lake where wild elephants come to drink – and a rooftop terrace from which to soak it all in over a drink or a meal. We recommend spending one night here on your tailor-made Sri Lanka itinerary.

Why we love Centauria Wild

  • Udawalawe National Park, with its wild elephants, golden jackals and toque macaques, is practically on the doorstep

  • It’s in a tranquil setting overlooking an expansive lake backed by hills cloaked in satinwood, ebony and teak trees

  • Families will appreciate the accommodation options, the kids’ menus and other child-friendly facilities

  • There’s a swimming pool area that’s the perfect place to cool down after an early-morning game drive
