Great Holiday despite Corona
The hotel is very nicely located between the river and the ocean. It takes about 1.5 hours from the airport. The last part is covered by boat across the river. This is a great way to start your vacation. From Bentota you can make many excursions, e.g. inland. Due to the lockdown in Sri Lanka at the time of our trip, we did not take advantage of any of the offers. The beach is very beautiful and the sand is fine, but the current is very strong at this time of the year. The first room (superior double room) was big enough for 2 adults and 1 child. The storage space was just enough for our 3-week trip. The room was always clean and our room boy Sugath also met extra requests. Particularly noteworthy is that we were given the opportunity to move into a family room (2 large rooms with a connecting door) free of charge. Since we were almost alone in the hotel and Sri Lanka was put into lockdown shortly after our arrival, the entertainment offers were of course extremely reduced. The larger room made up for it though. At this point, thank you again - both to the GM and the Rooms Division Manager Ruwan Benaragama. Both did everything to make our trip as memorable as possible. All service staff (from the room boy to the restaurant staff to the front office) were very friendly and courteous across the board. Wasantha and Sachindu Madushan in particular have worked beyond a very good standard. It was a shame that the staff changed about every 10 days. As a result, you often had new faces, which in turn had to get used to our "preferences" etc. again. Here, too, we were "lucky in misfortune". Because the hotel was very empty, we switched from buffet to à la carte relatively at the beginning of our trip. As a result, you always had hot and freshly cooked food on your plates. The food was varied and delicious and the kitchen staff always came up with something for our daughter, who is a very difficult eater. The pool area is a big plus as well!
As vistor we find
On our tour of Sri Lanka, the Centara hotel boy yasocha took very good care of us and is a very nice boy. Although the entire staff was and is going to do it, but of these The boy is very honest, hardworking and helpful
AVOID IF FOREIGN TOURIST
I usually don't post reviews like this, especially during a pandemic, but I feel it required in the current circumstances. I booked the Ceysands resort for myself, partner and young baby to complete our 14 day quarantine period having travelled from the UK. At first everything was great, we even received a very kind room upgrade. However in the midst of our stay we were told that they would be no longer be able to honour our booking as they were changing into a level 2 hotel in order to attract more local guests. When I asked why they accepted our booking if they knew they could not honour it, especially when we had a child, they were speechless. We were offered to be relocated to another level 1 hotel down the road that we refused to limit the risk to our unvaccinated infant daughter. Regardless, we received a phone call a day later asking if we were packed and ready to leave to the other hotel the next morning. To rub it in our faces further, they then started posting packages on their social media at a fraction of the rate we were paying to attract locals whilst we were still in the hotel about to be kicked out. I was promised several conversations with managers and even the general manager which never materialised. When I went down to reception to confront the situation and get the local health officer’s number, I was palmed off, all the while giggling behind my back. To say that the management ran as far as possible from us, in order to avoid confronting the situation, would be an understatement. Spineless. Thanks to the goodwill of a friend, I was able to book another level 1 hotel and transport to complete our quarantine period at an extra cost. In terms of compensation, I was told they would be kind enough to not charge me for the days they could not honour. I kid you not. We wasted at least 2 whole days trying to figure out what to do and felt left up a creek without a paddle. The amount of stress and anxiety this caused us, especially with a baby cannot be described. Sadly, the incompetence and attitude of the management, undermines all the hard work done by the amazing, kind staff who really went out of their way to care for us and our daughter, especially Sanka and Sachindu. We cannot be more grateful to them. I’m sure they will respond with a verbose explanation about how they have been impacted by covid, how they provided us with other alternatives but please do not be fooled. We were treated with the least amount of respect and would advise that you don’t stay here if you are a foreign tourist.
We stayed in this resort for 22days from 6th to 28th September 2021. During the stay we were affected by COVID 19. With the help of the hotel staff we received medical assistance through the insurance coverage which was part of the stay package. Ms. Nelka Kulasekara ans Wasana, front office executives, were of great help during the difficult times that we faced. I feel complete gratitude to the staff and other support members of this resort for making our stay pre and post COVID an experience to cherish. The food was good and suited the palette of us Indians. The spread was sufficient to cater to all kinds of travellers. We loved dining at Cafe Bem the buffet restaurant. Overall it’s a big hug to all of you. Love you all. Looking forward to enjoy your hospitality in more favourable times. God bless
