Restaurants & bars

The hotel's main restaurant Bojunhala, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, is a buffet restaurant with a difference. You can discover how a selection of the resort's signature dishes are created at the interactive food stations or enjoy one of the many theme nights held here. There's an area set aside where there are cooking stations tailored to children – a perfect way to keep younger guests amused and entertained while they dine. Alongside the buffet dishes, there's an a la carte menu featuring favourites from all over the island. Cuisine from South East Asia created with locally-sourced ingredients are the focus at the fine-dining restaurant Sera, and just like those at Bojunhala, the dishes are prepared in open kitchens.

There are two bars at the resort - Gimanhala and Ulpatha. The former is a delightfully casual open-air venue close to the lobby where you can enjoy afternoon tea, a cocktail or glass of Champagne at sundown and a post-dinner drink. Ulpatha, which translates to 'watering hole', is a sports bar located next to the golf course.

Spa & wellness

A staple of Shangri-La resorts around the world is CHI, The Spa. At Shangri-La's Hambantota, the spa is located in a secluded spot and features beautiful local design touches. Both Chinese and Ayurvedic treatments and therapies are offered here and all products used are 100% natural.

Children's club

Alongside supervised activities that are on offer at the The Cool Zone Kids' Club, there are plenty of facilities that families can enjoy together such as drone flying area, a seven-metre high trapeze and a waterpark.

For Children

What’s nearby? Families that want to explore Sri Lanka’s lush interior can access Bundala National Park with ease from the resort; with Yala, Udawalawe and Lunugamvehera a little further afield. The hotel is less than a 20-minute drive from the historical town of Hambantota.

Tried and tested One of the resort’s biggest highlights is The Artisan Village – a unique neighbourhood designed to showcase and preserve local craftmanship. Join workshops and try your hand at new skills in the daytime and, at night, expect traditional dancing and musical performances that celebrate the local culture.

The sleeping arrangements Rooms and Suites are contemporary and elegant, with floor-toceiling windows with views of the golf greens, gardens or Indian Ocean. We love the Premier Ocean Suite for families, which comes with separate living and dining areas, luxuries like a pillow menu, extra-large towels and bathrobes and slippers for all the family. The Janapathi Suite has a private massage room and outdoor Jacuzzi.
