Restaurants & bars
From Italian cuisine to teppanyaki-inspired local dishes, dining at the Anatara Tangalle Peace Haven Resort is a true pleasure, and fine dining is complemented by panoramic Indian Ocean views. The main restaurant Journeys is open for breakfast and dinner and offers dishes from both Sri Lanka and around the world. It is here the majority of your included meals will be served and there are buffet and à la carte dishes available. The speciality restaurants here an absolute treat – you can dine on Italian cuisine at Il Mare, which is set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Indian Ocean; enjoy theatrical dining at the teppanyaki-inspired Verela, where locally flavoured dishes are on the menu; or experience the perfectly paired Mediterranean cuisine and wine at El Vino which has a capacity of just eight guests – ideal for a special occasion. Dining does not have to be restricted to the restaurants with in-room and villa dining and Dining by Design during which you can choose your dishes from a selection of menus and then dine in a range of settings throughout the resort with attentive butler service. If you have always wished to try your hand at creating your own Sri Lankan cuisine, the Spice Spoons programme is perfect. Choose which dish you wish to create from a handful of authentic choices, go on market and farm visits, and learn how to create it during a step-by-step cookery class. The Lobby Lounge is a causal venue in which to enjoy the daily traditional high tea; and the Poolside Bar which is open throughout the day until the sun sets, is perfect for light dining and refreshments.
A farm-to-table dining experience includes a walk along the resort’s organic paddy field and farm and naturalists are available to provide information about the flora and fauna of the resort.
