Old English Charm
What a delightfully old world English style hotel set in picturesque surroundings Greeted by warm soup up arrival and then led along the dark timbered hall to the guests wing, to be greeted by a bright acqua and white decor. The staff are very attentive and the service excellent and food excellent We’d recommend staying here
2 night stay
Alot of steps into hotel, its very picturesque and the rooms are comfortable. The food is expensive and often a set menu is the option especiaally if a large party is staying. Some one also allowed a large school to be built along side so we heard the Lords prayer in 3 different languages at 08.00 weekdays.
Really classy hotel
Rooms were superb, food was great, service attentive. What's not to like? Will definitely return, but next time will spend more time exploring the surrounding neighbourhood and doing some of the interesting excursions.
Typical Nice English Place
The English have made beautiful houses and this is one of them. Its a pretty Hotel, but slightly dated. You can get a deal on Agoda at under 100 USD and then its worth it Rooms are pretty, Gardens are nice and service is good. Immediate location is not so good, and i would rather stay near the lake next time
Out of the world service!!
Me and my husband were on our way to check in to the ‘ Cottage by Jet Wing ‘ Nuwaraeliya on the 30th November evening at around 4.0 p.m as a result of the bad weather conditions around that area, we got caught to a flash flood which was around 4-5 feet high and covering the road for about 100 meters. We only had two choices. One, to wait inside the car till the water level goes down. Two, take an alternative route which was around 80 km more than the journey to the hotel from our location. Since it was getting dark and the roads are not safe. We decided to stay in the car. We were supposed to check in for dinner. Since we didn’t show up the hotel staff from the Cottage called us to check on us and we informed the situation to them. That was around 7.00 p.m. So they told us we can check in at any time and the restaurant is open till 10.00 p.m. and hopefully the water levels will go down and we will be able to make it. However, by 8.00 p.m. water level was nowhere near going down. So once the hotel checked on us again they asked for our vehicle number and told us that there is a Major currently at Jetwing St. Andrews and he will be sending Army officers to the location to check on the situation and also will try to somehow bring us safely back. After a while some Army officers found us and said if we are up to it, cross the water and they will take care of the vehicle. But we wanted to wait till the water level goes down to at least two feet. So they also agreed. Eventually both of us feel asleep inside the car and at around 10.00 p.m. one army officer can and knocked on our window. Said that they had brought a high jeep and they will drive is through the water and asked us to follow the jeep as it will clear the water from the road. At this point the water level was around 2 ½ feet. So we agreed and did what they asked and somehow safely crossed the flood without damaging our vehicle. Only after all of this we got to know that it was not only the Army officers who were there by two staff from St. Andrews were also there the assistant house keeper Mr. Hasith Ekanayake and the Naturalist. They are the ones who have coordinated with the Army and helped us cross the flood and come safely to the hotel. Not only that, as we reached the hotel after 11.00 p.m. we missed our dinner, and we didn’t had a proper lunch also and both of us were starving. So even before we mentioned it they arranged us some snacks for dinner. In figure of speech we say, they went the extra mile to provide a superb service, however in this situation the hotel staff went about 8kms ahead of there zone to help us in cold, windy, rainy weather. Yes. We are really great full to the SL Army and the Major who is in charge of disaster management in the Nuwaraeliya district for being there for us. But we must mention how extremely helpful & caring the staff at St. Andrews (Mr. Hasitha & the Naturalist ) & the Jetwing Cottage (Mr. Fernando & Mr. Sarawanan) were. Both I and my husband are CX (Customer Experience) Professionals. So we know how special a superior service is to a customer. The staff at the two hotels really created a memorable experience for us which we will hold in our hearts dearly. The two hotels are highly recommended simply because of their superior service. Thank you Jetwing Hotels. We will definitely visit again.
