Best in Galle
we spent four nights at Fort Bazaar Hotel in Galle in February 2021 and loved every moment. Lovely Suite, very kind and attentive staff, amazing food in the restaurant, and a wonderful time sitting in the Loggia with a drink and watching the day and the Sri Lankans in the street pass by. We stayed at Fort Bazaar just after Covid opening and had, at that time, the great privilege to be the only guests at the hotel. This enhanced the wonderful Fort Bazzar Hotel even more. At the same time we experienced a "tourist free" Galle.
A spontaneous road trip turned into a wonderful stay
We made a spontaneous decision to go out of Colombo just after the New Year and the only place available (luckily!) was Fort Bazzar. We arrived quite late due to the heavy congestion on the highway and the staff was very swift in checking us in - I tried my luck and inquired about a possible availability of a suite and (again) luckily for us, the family suite has just been checked out and we checked in within 30 mins! The interior was tastefully done and added to the cosy yet chic ambience of the hotel. The suite we stayed in was very spacious and cosy and had a private terrace facing Church Street. The food at CSS was wonderful - both dinner and breakfast was excellently prepared and the service was super. Overall staff was very helpful but not intrusive. A gem of a find - would definitely recommend for a short stay.
Excellent small hotel
We had an amazing two nights at Fort Bazaar - great facilities, professional staff and good food. The location is right in the middle of the old town and within easy walking distance of all major attractions. We will definitely be back.
Disappointed in the Seafood Linguine
I came there in a group of 6 for lunch on the 13th of April and ordered the Seafood Linguine priced at Rs.2,350 and the description said it has prawns, squid and fish. When the dish came it was very disappointing to find that there was a not single piece of prawn in the dish and about 2 very small pieces of squid and mostly fish.. When I complained about this to our waiter he checked with the chef and came and said the chef said he did put. Since another person had ordered it from our group his explanation was all the prawns and gone to that dish. Which I don’t think is a sensible explanation specially paying a high price for it just because it was seafood and to find only mostly fish..
My husband and I stayed 2 night at The Fort Bazaar last weekend and our stay was nothing short of perfect. Manager Thuan and his staff looked after us so well. The room was extremely comfortable (we stayed at the Upper Suite which looks down onto the street) and the food was excellent - Chef Suresh is a fantastic cook! What we did bring home with us however was the warm and welcoming nature of the staff which really made our stay so memorable! Highly recommend this property!
