Tranquil Stay in Trincomalee
We were there on October, 2019 and reserved the Jungle Cabin. At the booking stage I have reserved another hotel of Uga group forgetting to select an available offer, but the management was really flexible to add me the offer and use that extra credit to reserve "jungle Beach". The entrance of this property symbolizes the simplicity and minimum impact to the environment, One might it is a jungle unless the hotel name is there. Our jungle cabin was great and the exterior shower was our favorite of all the amenities. We enjoyed the sunset at the hotel beach and had a cool swim in the swimming pool. Food was tasty and the service was excellent.
Lovely small beach
Jungle beach was really nice. Sea was lovely to swim in but went deep very quickly when you got in so not suitable for young children. A surfers paradise i would imagine. Wasn't many sunbeds available. Had a beach bar that looked nice but we only went for a couple if hours so didn't try it. Not far in a tuk tuk and quite reasonable.
Wonderful beach experience
This was probably the best place that we stayed during our six and a half week visit to Sri Lanka. Sadly we only spent two nights at the hotel in a huge beach hut with a gorgeous balcony from which you could see the sea as well as the surrounding jungle. Our hut had chairs and sofas to sit on as well as a sofa, table and chairs on the balcony. Falling asleep to the sounds of the sea was delightful. The weather was as expected rather unpredictable in February but we enjoyed lying on the beach and walking along the beaches in the welcome sea breezes, even if the sea was too rough for swimming. Our routine was to swim in the pool and then move to the beach. We found the pool slightly oppressive in its jungliness and proximity to the restaurant, although it was very attractive. The food was excellent, especially the 'jumbo prawns' and French fries.
High end Beach Resort near Tincomalee
We stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed the expereince. It was quiet and some distance away from other hotels - so most guests just stay on the premises. Tuk Tuks are available if needed. Very tranquill with attentive staff. Upstairs lagoon rooms were best - the beach view cabins didn't have much of a view. Dinners were excellent - but priced at European level. The beach is long but quite narrow - with a lot of rubbish if you walked a few hundred meteres off the hotel area. Lovely to have a sundowner on the balcony of the lagoon room as the sun set and the water birds had their last meals.
Unbelievable Uga Jungle Resorts
When we drove into the Uga Jungle Resorts, we could immediately sense that we were in for a treat. Welcomed by a warm and wonderful reception, the entry to the resort is gorgeous – picking up on traditional Sri Lankan coastal architecture and design and carrying it through all the common areas. The pool beckons you as you overlook it coming across a walkway toward the beach. And, we stayed in a very cool villa on the beach with a view of the ocean – stylishly designed and tastefully appointed with spacious sleeping, living areas and bathroom. But what really makes this resort sing is the staff and the fantastic service. From check in through check out, from the service manager, Ronson Francis to house keeping’s Kapilan & Selui, smiling accommodation, attention and service is a constant. I can’t recall everyone’s name and apologize for misspelling the ones that I do remember but I do want to highlight the restaurant food and service provided by Ravi, Navota, Harris and Shihan. And, the massage therapist, Tentri, is amazing. Plus one more mention – Vela, the lifeguard/boat pilot/snorkel guide is terrific. He took us on a great snorkel adventure to Pigeon Island and was a pleasure to be hang out with.
