A wonderful week!
We returned to this hotel for a week at the end of June/beginning of July and we’re very pleased we did. We could not have asked for more. The relaxed atmosphere, discreet and charming service and top class facilities make it a great choice for those who want to enjoy a chilled time but still be able to dip in and out of the bright lights of Marbella. Our room on the 6th floor was large & very comfortable with a nice garden/sea view. Our only comment would be that it was lacking sunshine on the balcony. Housekeeping was great. We enjoyed our days around the pools. No rushing up to reserve sunbeds here, they are plentiful with sun umbrellas & on soft, carpet like grass. Food and drinks are served to the sunbeds and the Haagen Daas ice cream cabin is a great idea. We were disappointed that Baltazar was not open during our stay but Spiler beach restaurant is excellent with a varied menu and great service. The sardines & boquerones starter ‘special’ was delicious. Breakfast had all the hallmarks of a Kempinski buffet - loads of variety, excellent quality, plentiful and with great service. We wish you a great summer Kempinski and we will return.
NOT FOR US!
We picked the KEMPINSKI hotel as we were only in Estepona for a few days as we were attending a wedding there and the location worked well. We went with our 2 kids ages 4 1/2 and 3. Bad points - the swimming pool is FREEZING - the floor around the swimming pool is extremely slippery both my children hurt themselves several times- it really upset me and as a result we stayed away from the pool. The “childrens pool” isn’t for children - it’s cold and deep- so you can’t relax at all!! The sunbeds has bird poo on Service didn’t start till 11am and when it did it was hard to locate someone.. The beach area is horrible - all stones The restaurant - is reasonable, but pricy! The bath in the room was either burning hot or cold - temperamental Breakfast was pretty poor! Limited buffet and birds land on your table and eat your food! The kids club was pretty poor. Nice staff but not what It should be! - needs improving and more staff!!!! Good points The room was ok, well kept, clean The staff were friendly and nice - this was very good! The hotel was clean There is only one 5 seater cab in Estepona so be ready to use Ubers. This is certainly not a hotel for families with small kids- there’s nothing for them to do, a nice swimming pool and beach is a huge factor when choosing a hotel- to have a freezing pool which causes accidents when you enter or exit is not for me at all!!!!!
If you don't have any issues with your room you should have a nice time at this hotel. I stayed at the Kempinski Hotel Bahia for 4 nights. I notified reception after my first night that the air conditioning wasn't working in my room and that a reading light above the bed activated multiple times during the night by itself. The heat and the light were disturbing. I also notified the hotel manager and other hotel employees of the problems. The hotel never offered to change my room. Took two days for the a/c to be repaired and finally on the fourth night the light was disconnected. After repairing the a/c, no one followed up to ensure that the room was cleaned from fallen ceiling debris, dirt, and plaster. There was no follow up at the hotel to confirm that the issues were addressed until the last evening. Very disappointing. This is an expensive hotel and the Kempinski should have reduced the amount I paid given these conditions In my opinion, go to a different 5 star hotel which values their guests.
We booked a 4 night stay at Kempinski at the end of our trip around Andalusia. Our room was very comfortable with plenty storage, a bath and seperate shower cubicle, and balcony with great views over the Mediterranean. The hotel was very quiet with it being not quite summer season yet so some facilities were limited. Lunch and dinner were only available at Spilers Beach Club- the same menu for both but good food and service albeit quite pricey (could charge to your room). Snacks available at the hotel bar. Pool bar didn’t open until 16th June but you could get drinks from Spilers and there was also a barboy taking orders at sunbeds. One pool was closed but the others were fine for swimming, very quiet and not overly cold (24 degrees). The breakfast buffer offered lots of choice including lovely fresh fruit and omelettes made to order. Hotel staff were all fantastic and service was always excellent. We were a little disappointed at the limited dining choices on site but front desk made dinner reservations for us in Estepona and both were excellent (taxi about 10€ each way). Only other negative was that there didn't appear to be much attempt to tidy up the sunbed area at the end of each day - we found ourselves picking up litter and empty bottles etc every morning before settling down for the day. In summary, a relaxing stay in an excellent hotel - just what we needed.
Great location and staff BUT
Great welcome to this stylish hotel, nice layout on many levels and the food was great - both breakfast and dinner in the two open restaurants (they closed one while we were here). Pools are OK if a little small and only the indoor one at the spa is OK for very young children. Room was nice and suite was very nice, great views. Main issue is access to the different levels - if you have a pram it's very hard to get anywhere as you have to move sideways through the hotel to avoid steps - very little step free access and poor signage. Great access to Beth beach and the boardwalk to Estapona. Overall a good place to stay
