So I booked an amazing holiday for myself and my best friend for her birthday. This hotel looked and sounded lovely online. After spending 2,000 for 3 nights we were left greatly disappointed. All restaurants were closed apart from main self service area. Spa was bring run from a hotel room charging the same prices. Entertainment was absolutely awful. 1 hour of music if even that from 9pm and afterwards we were told to be quite when talking. Only one very friendly staff member when we check in and it was fend for yourself after that. I always visit secrets in Mexico and surprised they are going here. Maybe with a lot of internal improvements and friendly staff. We were very disappointed not to be told the hotel was under construction and charged full price for a very basic standard room that we paid extra for. I truly hope the new hotel is worth it as we came home quite unhappy.
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Hesperia from 19th till the 26th of September. We had a late arrival (after midnight) and after we’ve been checked in we could have our dinner at the buffet restaurant. The room itself was dated but nothing scruffy as some people would described it. We’ve been reading all the reviews carefully and seen all the pictures so we knew what to expect. We had room 523 with sea and pool view. Room was spacious and overall in good condition. Air-con was well needed and loved the music from the speaker. It was very relaxing. Staff was very friendly and ready to help at any time. They were working really. I could see some people there all day long so god knows how long their shifts are but they were always smiling. Food was very good. I was stuffed al day long. Only downside was that there was one restaurant open and there should be 2 la carte opened too but for some reason they were closed. Pools - nothing to complain about but Sunlounger were a bit dated too and people were reserving them quite early although it wasn’t allowed nobody were stoped. So we had to follow the rule and reserve ours too. Bit silly but we had no choice but to do so. One day there was a girl reserving 6 Sunloungers at 7am but nothing’s been said. Drinks were alright. On all inclusive they weren’t strong at all but not bothered as I went there to relax not to get pissed every day. We’ve had full week spa wellness pass and we’ve enjoyed it. The refurbishment started 2 days before our departure and it was right under our room so there was no way to relax in the room as it was impossible. We’ve been told that all the work it’s not starting till October so that was surprising. Overall I loved our holidays. It was very relaxing brake and I would recommend it to everyone and can’t wait to go back when it’s all renewed.
We had a family holiday of 8 adults with a range of tastes, the amount of food on offer easily catered for all our tastes and although the hotel was fully booked the staff were both attentive and professional and genuinely couldn't do enough for you. The drinks are generous and there is a good selection that is included so you shouldn't need to pay for any premium drinks. I do not understand the bad reviews this was a beautiful hotel with plenty of sunbeds to go around with some pretty good entertainment in the evening. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Maybe next time
6 of us ladies ranging from 18-60yrs stayed here for 3 nights and we enjoyed our overall experience. The majority of us had never travelled so it’s hard to know what to expect of a 5* hotel. The local area was nice and quiet and a short walk to the marina where there’s shops and bars. However there’s no sandy beaches close by. Our main positives include *Champagne on arrival *Cold dinner made specially for us as we arrived late evening *Lovely helpful staff (aside from 1 or 2) *Large sea view rooms when we only booked mountain *Excellent quality and choice of food in the main buffet restaurant A few negatives- +We knew the hotel was undergoing renovations however having only one restaurant and 1 bar open we quite disappointing. Plus it was too noisy (due to renovations) to sit round any of the other pools apart from the main one. And the spa was full for treatments. +Our room electric kept tripping so we couldn’t get ready one evening however they quickly rectified this and sent us a bottle of complimentary cava. +The music round the pool was repeated daily and even played on an evening after the entertainment which got VERY annoying. Or joke was calling it ‘Tesco music’. They wouldn’t change it but understand they had to think of the other guests etc. I think there is so much more to experience and enjoy once the renovations are finished and it might be worth giving the hotel another 5* chance. Unfortunately I think there will be some further negative reviews in this period due to the renovations and limited access to other bars and restaurants. It may have been better to shut the hotel down before any work started to maintain the good reviews. Thank you for a nice stay overall.
Excellent level of customer service
The Hotel has wonderful amenities, the staff are very helpful. In particular Gemma, Jacob at the Restaurant, whilst at Reception Inma and Isabel proved to be very helpful. We were there on our honeymoon and found the whole experience very relaxing. Its set in a lovely location near Puerto Calero, by the coastline. We understand the hotel is undergoing a renovation and look forward to seeing the transformation and hope to go back in the near futire.
