We stayed a week after they reopened in September for a week and couldn't have had a better experience. We had booked back in January and it was needed after 6 months of working from home. We couldn't have felt safer if they tried, all staff wear masks, as do all guests unless you are sat at a table/sunbed/in the pool or in your own room. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned daily as are all tables between use. Only one restaurant was open each evening (we had Portofino once and Oceana twice then the buffet the rest) but with the hotel at such a low capacity it wouldn't have made sense to open more. Meals were delicious and when the two vegetarians in our group asked for a little more variety we were happily provided with more options. Maritza was the entertainment one evening - she's unreal, do not miss if she's on the schedule. We also were lucky to experience the show with dinner at Oceana on our final night, the dancers and fire act was fantastic and we had a great table (arrive early if you can to get a seat outside). We took part in the daily yoga/pilates on offer with Isabel and one of the resident cats Antonio which was always a great start to the day. The SUP yoga in the pool and pool spin with Ana were highly enjoyable too. The only thing we would mention is that we'd have loved the gym to have been open in the morning as after lunch and a cocktail it's the last thing you want to use, we would have used it far more if it was accessible earlier as the facilities are great. The spa was incredible, we had the Swedish massage and used the facilities for an hour. All the staff were professional, accommodating and incredibly kind. We didn't catch all names but in particular all the staff during the day at the Barefoot Grill and the bar in the evening were lovely. We also had great chats with the hotel stalwart Jean. Back home now and quarantining for two weeks.
Genuine 5 Stars
Excellent 5 stars. Service, Comfort, Rest, Anticipation and feel very safe in these times of pandemic. We did a kid-free getaway to recharge our batteries. Highly recommended massages. Hygiene ahead of everything. We congratulate the entire team. We will be back soon.
We stayed here in February and had the most lovely time. The whole team were friendly and helpful, Konte is the name I remember as always being a friendly face and making sure we had everything we could possibly want. The all inclusive element was great value for money we felt. A great place if you like cat spotting as well as there were some feline friends in the outdoor spaces. Overall a fabulous place to go!
Not Quite A Five Star.
We arrived at noon on a Saturday for a one week stay. Once inside, we were greeted immediately, directed to the front desk & provided with a glass of champagne. Our room wasn't ready, but we were allowed to start enjoying the facility. After approximately an hour, we were taken to our room. The room was a nice size, very clean, with a partial view of the ocean. The mini fridge was stocked daily with Cola, fruit juice, beer & Pringles. There was a Tablet, which showed everything the resort had to offer (very helpful). The pools were clean & warm enough to swim in, but this is the first AMResort we've been to that didn't have drink service at the pools. Not a huge issue, but just something a 5 star resort should provide. We LOVED the spa! The service was fantastic & the facility was super clean. The steam shower & sauna were huge. The different types of showers were a unique experience. Everything about the facility was amazing. It is an additional cost to use the facility, but worth it. We purchased the Unlimited Experience package, which included all meals & drinks (only worth the price if you don't plan on leaving the resort). There were a few food items & premium drinks that were additional cost, which clearly stated on the menu. We ate several times at World Cafe (buffet) for all meals. There was a good selection of food & decent service. Coco Coffee served great coffee drinks & desserts. Always friendly service. Portofino is your typical resort Italian restaurant. The starters were very good, the main courses were ok, the service was great & they offered wine suggestions, which was very helpful. Barefoot Grill, had a nice selection of lunch options. Drink selection was ok at best. Service for the most part was good, with the exception of an older gentleman that was quite rude. We avoided the place when he was working. Bluewater Grill was small, but quite a lovely place to dine. The service was great, as was the food. You did not leave hungry. Gohan Sushi Bar was by far our favourite restaurant! Basically any drink we asked for, we got. The sushi chef (Johnny) made us rolls that weren't even on the menu...amazing! The service provided by Pedro & Johnny was EXCELLENT! We truly loved sitting outdoors, under the patio heater, with the exception of one chilly night, when two men came by a took the patio heater we were sitting under, to accommodate the individuals that were attending the conference at the resort. If I remember correctly, I was a paying customer too. It was unacceptable, especially for a so called 5 star resort. I understand a conference brings in a lot of money, but all guests should be treated equally. Overall, we did enjoy our stay. We appreciated the excellent daily housekeeping, excellent service provided at the Sushi Bar & the quietness. But comparing to other AMResorts, it's shouldn't be classified as a 5 star. It's more on a 4 star level, in my opinion.
Recently returned from a seven day holiday and experienced a great holiday The buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner was first class. The Alacarte restaurants need a little refinement but overall a hotel I would definitely stay in again. In fact my wife and I are definitely considering booking for Christmas.
