Another grat holiday
This is a lovely place to stay. Everything is just right for us and we like to stay here a couple of times a year. The situation is lovely, right on the dunes, the room are light and airy, the food is great and the staff are wonderful. What more could one want ? Looking forward to the next time.
Terrific hotel for Playa del Ingles
Playa del Ingles is a mass tourism resort rather than upmarket and select but parts of it are quite attractive and the dunes are a major site. The Santa Monica Suites Hotel is a superb choice of hotel for this resort - excellent location, attractive, modern, good food, large pool /sunbathing area, very well maintained and staffed, with lovely large rooms. The rooms facing the dunes get the sun most of the day on the balconies and terraces. We definitely enjoyed the buffet meals at breakfast and dinner which offered good choice. However, we pointed out to the hotel that although the food is mostly labelled, the labels could be more informative, particularly for vegetarians. It was not always obvious what the ingredients were so we avoided certain food choices simply because of that and asking the staff every time would be a hassle. Nonetheless, we enjoyed what we could eat and had plenty. The evening entertainment is in a small open bar overlooking the pool which must be lovely in the summer but is less inviting in winter. The open seating area in the hotel bar and lobby is pretty limited so don't expect to mingle informally with many other guests outside meals. It was only these very minor points which stopped us giving this hotel full marks but we would still recommend it.
If You seek for a very clean hotel, then here You are. The staff was very helpful and they did all they had to do in very fine way. Breakfast was excellent. the room was comfortable, the view to the sea was OK and there was space enough. So this hotel is recommendable.
Very nice and quiet hotel with great views and direct access to dunes and beaches
If you like walking in the dunes and on the beach, and spectacular views from your room (on floors 4 and 5) the location is perfect. If you appreciate a nice pool and quiet nights, this is it. The staff is friendly and the breakfast buffet is great. The only limitation (but you can't have it all!) is that there are not many evening busy and nice places within walking distance. But you can take your car or a cheap cab and in 5-10 minutes you reach busy evening spots. Would definitely go back !
We visited in November for a two week stay at Santa Monica and chose a ground floor room requesting close to the centre of the building many weeks before arriving as I was having some back problems. Sadly we were given a room third from the end and told the hotel was busy so they couldn't help further. I have to say we didn't see much activity in rooms closer to the middle. Interestingly we stayed here twice with Jet2 Holidays and have been given rooms close to the end but when we booked with TUI we had a room near the centre. I also noticed that though the cleaning staff had boxes of mints for the rooms after cleaning we were only given mints on the last day. Small items but noticeable when you have stayed before. The hotel is as mentioned. Rooms are large, clean and airy though this time we rarely were cleaned before the afternoon. It was windy on quite a number of days and the sand is a real pain in that it fills the pool and gets everywhere. I'm sure it is a pain for the hotel staff too. I commented on the review for my first stay how pleasant the pool was as the water was warm. This was not the case on this visit and the pool was very cold limiting it's use. I noticed it wasn't used greatly and that might be the reason. The kids paddling pool was heated though. Maybe being familiar with a hotel means you notice the small changes and that, coupled with the two items above made this less enjoyable than before for us. I certainly would say this is still a lovely hotel to stay at and maybe I am nitpicking a bit but there are a lot of newly refurbished hotels springing up around Playa Del Ingles so with competition increasing maybe this is the time to ensure guests are 100% happy.
