AS FANTASTIC AS BEFORE!
We love this place, this was our third annual holiday. Beautifully positioned right on the beach seafront and its frontage right in the centre of town. Everything about this hotel is great, from the welcome at the desk, the extensive breakfasts with happy staff, and even the omelette chef smilies and said good morning. Whenever you are walking around the hotel the staff always want to help. Two people that stood out for us were Monica who chatted fluently from Spanish to German to English - and was always asking, together with Bonnie, to see if there was anything extra she could do for you The other person was Adrian the pool attendant, he was always pleased to see you, always around to help with moving a sun bed, a parasol - or any additional towels. We probably chatted and saw more of Adrian than any other member of staff, so he was really important. This is a very lovely hotel, surrounded by a beautiful beach and plentiful cafes and restaurants - but the wonderful staff are what makes it.
Perfect! Just what I needed.
The hotel has been brilliant from start to finish. I’m a single woman and travelled on my own for the first time but the hotel has been more than accommodating and made sure I was safe and happy throughout my stay. I chose the All Inclusive option and all I had to do was leave my room number and all was taken care of. Food was delicious, drinks amazing, the weather was perfect and the hotel immaculate. My room, although not sea view, it was still spot on with a huge balcony overlooking the wonderful street life of the local town. I’d highly recommend to everyone looking for a quiet and peaceful adults only resort in Spain and within walking distance to the beautiful beach.
A warm and relaxing location - highly recommended
We've just returned from our sixth two-week visit to Villamil; this being our first since March 2020 when Covid took over. It's really gratifying to be able to report that things are almost back to normal - and regarding Covid there are hand sanitisers everywhere and CO2 monitors in the restaurants. As ever, the staff are at the heart of this hotel and they remain fantastic; welcoming and helpful from reception to restaurants service to room service and the pool attendant. The rooms are spacious and airy with excellent balconies - certainly the de luxe rooms, and you need to get a sea-view. There are plenty of excellent restaurants close by (see other reviews) and on-site there is the poolside lunch-stop and the Seaside a-la-carte Seaside restaurant (see separate review) . The only negative for management is that the TV package for UK visitors is appalling, surprising for a US company, but in the big scheme of things it's an irritant rather than a spoiler. As they say, we'll be back next year, and maybe for three weeks!
The website is a Con!
Best way is to cut and paste my email to the management who after chasing again, chose not to reply but then to get someone to have a word with me. Dear Luis, I arrived yesterday at this resort and have now spent 24 hours here. Reason I chose this resort as I have stayed at Silversands, Playa Mujeres, Akumal in Mexico and Punta Cana. I paid about £2500 for my wife and I as we can’t go to Mexico due to that being on ‘Red List’ for British citizens. What we have found is that we certainly have not or will be getting what we have paid for. I am appalled and must say that the Villamil resort is actually a complete fraud and that your website certainly fails to give accurate information. This again is not reflected in the price we have paid! I have listed the items below so that you can follow it and respond. I will also be adding the problems below to my Instagram and Tripadvisor account. 1: the website boasts that like the other resorts there are 4 restaurants. What it fails to say is that for lunch, you only have a choice of Olio which is the same as The Baracuda. In fact, that’s the only option for lunch. 2: 2 days, the buffet ‘World Cafe’ is closed/ the Seaside grill is shut and there is no mention that the ‘Barefoot grill’ does not do its own food; but brings in the food from Olio. In short, the 7 days I am here, my wife and I are limited to one menu and choices. Had we known, we wouldn’t have gone all inclusive; let alone come here 3: The ‘Coco cafe’ is closed. No mention on your website. That’s false advertising and being a solicitor, AM resorts should be aware of this!! Having met several senior representatives over the last few years, this is shocking!! 4: Having a life threatening allergy to crustaceans for which I have to carry an epipen, the ‘World Cafe’ last night did not have all tags on all the food items. Any risk of contamination or being exposed to shell fish will result in a cardiac arrest. Would your organisation pay for my bills? Let alone that the grilled chicken I had yesterday, I had to send back as the staff also saw that the chicken was raw. 5: There are meant to be snacks readily available but all I get is the skinless almonds and olives in brine. In Mexico, there are endless tortilla chips, crisps, nachos and other items. 6: Despite booking a room with King Size bed/Double occupancy, we spent the first night in 2 single beds. Can you explain the logic behind that? I am really disappointed that after as a brand and a chain; this resort seems to be completely fraudulent. In short, we inky came here expecting a similar kind of hotel to the Caribbean ones. This place is far from it. The buffet is limited. Only positives here are that the resort is in the beach and all the staff are wonderful, multi lingual and provide wonderful service. Our room too is rather nice facing the beach. The pool is on the small side and looks full when there are 6 or more people in it. It’s narrow but fortunately seems to be heated. In short, 2* tot room & staff. Not worth the € to be honest and definitely nothing like any other Secrets, Breezes resort
Little bit of luxury and sunshine
After what has been a long 18 months without travel, I was looking forward to a break away with my partner. We got a great deal with BA and I cannot fault the way the hotel was working within their government guidance and ensuring that guests still got a 5 Star experience! From the moment we arrived we have been been truly looked after and we held nothing back! Spa treatments…massages( reflexology and my partner even went back for a well-being pedicure ;) his feet haven’t looked nicer!! The area is quieter that neighboring resorts but for some quiet reconnecting time book here, if you want Irish bars etc Santa Ponca is just a 5/10 mins trip by car or bus. I’m looking forward to us returning again…
