La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, Mallorca

Where the stylish set come to switch off

This luxury retreat celebrates Deià’s artistic heritage, in an idyllic setting with superb inclusions.

Belmond bottles up bygone glamour and authentic Mallorcan style among stone walls, white parasols and sweet-scented citrus groves. Flit from four-poster bed to peaceful pool. Or from an olive oil spa scrub to tapas on the terrace with mountain views. Considered one of Spain's finest dining experiences, El Olivio is unmissable; a sensational tasting menu served in an enchanting candlelit courtyard.

The sumptuous spa offers personalised treatments and features an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom and six treatment rooms – three of which have open-air terraces offering spectacular views. Many treatments use local produce including olive oil, almonds, oranges and lemons.

At La Residencia, you can take a tour through the hotel's olive groves with their beloved donkeys, join a cava masterclass or learn the skills of pétanque with an aficionado. Walk into Deià for a painting class with an artist, join a photographer for a walk at first light or meet the winemaker at Son Sureda Ric.

Take the free shuttle to Cala Deia, a beautiful shingle beach or, during the summer months, enjoy a boat excursion along the coast.

The hotel’s restaurants purchase as much food as possible from local, sustainable sources and they have their own organic herb garden and citrus orchards. Solar lights are used in certain areas of the hotel and in 2019 they set up their own compost to reduce food waste. They are also part of the Adopt an Olive Tree campaign which raises funds for the renovation of mountain olive groves.
