Most romantic hotel of my life!
I never thought I would enjoy staying in a hotel in the hills vs the beach but this hotel is fabulous!! Everything is very luxurious from the rooms to the toiletries and the service. The restaurant for dinner is out of a fairytale and the pool is lovely and not too crowded. The spa is fabulous and we had some incredible treatments. They also sell very high quality skincare which my husband and I are still using and love. The food was wonderful although my only complaint is they absolutely will not let you eat lunch at the pool. This was a bit annoying and they were firm on this. Other than that everything was great and the walking path with the donkeys was very cute. It’s only about 25 mins driving into Palma if you want to go shopping or for dinner. Incredible romantic place with a beautiful lounge and live music.
Best as always
No much to say from other reviews, is just the place to stay in Mallorca. This year due to the short season we went just to the Cafe Miro. One you arrive you already feel like in a different galaxy. The surroundings, the smell of the well cared gardens, the Spanish guitarr musician together with the best service in the island, makes an unforgettable experience. THANK YOU Belmond Mallorca and keep on making memorable experiences.
Saved our holiday
We were lost, because our rented finca at bunyola was destroit from a thunderstorm. They gave us warm and perfect home and hospitility. Thank you Sylvie and your whole Team! The Restaurant is really incredible...
Beautiful but expensive
It’s worth noting that we got moved here because our original hotel closed last minute due to lack of bookings. We had planned on a beach / pool type holiday and La Residencia is more of a mountain escape type place. We actually ended up leaving La Residencia for this reason but it was a pleasure to stay there for a couple of nights - this review is based on that short stay. Firstly; what a stunning location! Nestled in the mountains, unbelievable views of the cliffs and the little village of Deià perched in between. There can’t be many places like this in Mallorca. There is also a lot of original art all over and the pool is also stunning! There are age old olive trees everywhere and the gardens are really well kept - it’s genuinely one of the most beautiful hotel properties I’ve visited in Europe. The staff are all excellent and professional. We were greeted warmly and given a private tour of the property which really added to it’s character. The staff were always keen to help and they had an app where you could just chat to them and get anything you needed which was so effortless but so effective. I couldn’t fault any of the staff no matter the interaction. The main restaurant, El Olivio, is also great especially if you request a table on the edge with a view - get there as soon as they open at 1930 to catch the sunset over the hills - what a photo opp! Maybe not the same time throughout the year, we were there end of August. The food is very good but it’s also very expensive. You’ll pay the same as a Michelin starred restaurant and yet they do not have this award. The waiting staff are brilliant - we had Danny who was a young guy but very intelligent and friendly and ensured we always had what we needed - kudos! We also ventured into Deià itself which is small but there are loads of shops and restaurants which gives you plenty of choice. It was rather bustling with locals actually and felt quite normal in these Covid times. Our main piece of negative feedback are the rooms and also the cost of the hotel. I guess this place caters to the rich and famous (certainly the former) and if you’re not worried about money, I bet this place is a dream. Our rate from our original hotel secured us an entry level room but we were kindly upgraded to a basic junior suite. However i soon figured out that the rooms that are in demand, and the rooms advertised in their website, are Junior Suite Deluxe and above - to upgrade would have cost us almost double what we were paying. These Junior Suite Deluxes are at the top of the property (upper building) and I think most of the guests who were there when we were had these rooms. The rooms below and in the main building are less bright and open and definitely don’t have as good a view. I’m not sure if it’s the same for the rooms in the upper building but our room also felt very dated - very old TV, not that new a mattress l, pillows were quite flat, bathroom also felt a bit dated and didn’t have much water pressure. I know it’s an old property and that’s part of its charm but at the rates charged, I feel like the rooms could still be upgraded tastefully. Ultimately, I didn’t feel like the room was good value for money. We didn’t want to hangout in it much which we normally would do in a modern hotel. I think if money isn’t an issue and you can afford one of their top tier rooms, this place is amazing. But I think if you’re more conscious about cash and want more bang for your buck, there are plenty of other amazing hotels on the island. I can not fault the location and certainly not the staff - for both of these, 10/10. Also note that Deià is quite far from most things and you have to drive up and down curvy and fairly thin roads to get to and from there so it’s not the best location if you want to explore Mallorca.
Memories to last
We are delighted we decided to proceed with our longed for and highly anticipated holiday to one of our favourite holiday destinations. It was our first stay at a Belmond property and naturally expectations were high. They were indeed met. From arrival to departure we felt entirely confident and assured with the Covid Safety protocols they had implemented. We were warmly welcomed. The staff were exceptional, excellent customer service with a smile, doing whatever they could to make our stay perfect. The room was gorgeous, the bed and pillows so comfortable. Loved the little gestures like hand cream left on our first night and book marks left in as yet unread books, ready for use. Loved the choice of pools, Husband particularly loved the deep and large main pool, the temperature of which was perfect. The sun beds were very comfortable and the Pool attendant and service excellent. We love Deia with it’s choice of amazing restaurants, most of our favourites were at most 10 minutes walk away. We dined in El Olivo a couple of nights. The views, service and ambience exceptional at Cafe Miro for pre dinner drinks. The location of the Residencia is truly stunning and memories of it’s beauty will last a lifetime.
