Wonderful hotel, disappointing restaurant
The hotel building is stunning, having been converted from an old olive mill/farm - some of the original equipment has been preserved and you can literally smell the olive oil in some rooms. The building has masses of character and feels like a very special place to stay. The outdoor pool is enormous, maybe 50m, with a lot of sun loungers around the outside, with plenty of parasols and well-spaced, however these do fill up during the course of the day. It's very well located for hiking and cycling, is two minutes walk from the very attractive port, which has plenty of restaurants. It is also easy, and worthwhile, to get the tram to Soller and then a scenic train on to Palma - quicker (and much cheaper) to get the bus back however. The trip on the tram/train was well worth doing once. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and maybe our experience in terms of bed/pillows was better than in the newer part, our bed was really comfortable. We also had no issue with the temperature as the sun does not hit this part of the hotel during the heat of the day and there are heavy wooden shutters to keep it cool. Rooms in the old part are incredibly character-ful and some have a decent size terrace. There's an excellent buffet breakfast, with three shifts, although we tried two of these and they were still busy. Staff were excellent throughout, friendly and well-informed/helpful. The main criticism we had, and it was a big disappointment, was our meal in Sa Figuera, which is the a la carte restaurant. We all (a party of 4) found our meals lacking in flavour and rather bland; we ate there on our first night but chose not to return, and we did not fancy the buffet restaurant on the basis of some other reviews. There are good restaurants for the evening nearby however. We also found the pool snack bar at lunchtime was very limited and had we been staying for longer, would have gone out to get the wherewithal09ooooooooop for a picnic to eat outside and then return.
Great hotel , clean and tidy , free spa !!
Fantastic hotel, Great spa which is totally free Great indoor and outdoor pools Rooms clean and well serviced , We have been there 3 times before covid , A few things have changed which I don’t like , 1 they have dropped the buffet at dinner which I loved , The menu options are no way as good as the buffet Overall I would say that the hotel is 4.5 out of 5
Birthday treat in Hotel Es Port
Another great stay at this welcoming hotel. Our room was attractive and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast had an extensive choice and was of a high quality. We booked dinner for my birthday in their restaurant(Sa Figuera) and liked it so much we booked a second meal. The Reception Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel grounds and gardens are truly beautiful, a pleasure to stroll around any time of day. Suffices to say we have booked another visit in October.
A lovely, peaceful hotel with everything you need to make a good holiday.
A lovely, peaceful hotel set in beautiful gardens with many areas to sit, rest and relax. Plentiful sun loungers for the number of guests. Both the outdoor and indoor pools are lovely. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. The spa is also very good. Although secluded its own grounds, it is only a five minute walk to the pretty promenade, good walking/hiking trails and the bus stops, if you want to travel further afield. We had a superior double room which had a balcony with very nice outlook over the garden. The hotel was very quiet in spite of being fairly full and we slept very well there. The food was plentiful, varied and of good quality. We were able to sit out on the terrace both at breakfast and dinner times which was really pleasant. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend the a la carte restaurant in the hotel ‘Es Figuera’. The food, service and overall dining experience is superb and very reasonably priced. We loved our stay so much we have booked to return next Spring.
Brilliant location, grounds, old building & staff
As others have said the location, grounds and the older part of the hotel are really beautiful. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The room we had was much the same as many hotels but let down by a noisy sliding bathroom door which left large gaps around it sides restricting privacy. Our room faced the sun in the afternoon and became very hot and with the hotel air conditioning being switched off made sleeping difficult. To cool the room down we left the patio door open at night but this didnt really solve the problem. We stayed halfboard. The breakfast had an excellent selection of both hot and cold foods with the option of squeezing your own orange juice. For the evening meal there was an excellent choice of starters with salads, meats and cheeses. The deserts were also excellent with a good selection always on offer. The main meal itself was a let down with some being excellent but many were over cooked, dry and over salted. On one evening we waited over an hour before finding our order was lost. The waiting staff were very apologetic but this left the impression the kitchen was inadequately managed/staffed. The following night the same thing happened again! We really love many of the hotel features and location. If we were to stay again we would request a room away from the PM sun and just go for B&B.
